Advice re estimating groundworks cost & logistics

Planning a sizable extension, essentially a rectangle 5m x 10m. Job is to excavate a trench for foundations, 5m by 10m by 5m, 600 wide and 2m deep (there are some big old tree close by). The fourth side of the rectangle is the existing house. I make that 24 cubic metres of soil, muck away...

Sulphate Attack - Replace with Concrete or Suspended timber?

...as an alternative 'fix' I had the floors damp proofed with mastic asphalt. This option leveled the floors and prevents rising damp from penetrating the floor surfaces. A certificate was issued with a 25 year guarantee. Mastic asphalt covering won't stop further bulging in the future...

    Bath & Basin Waste Q's

...to clarify, it is best practice to fit an anti-syphon trap to both the bath AND the basin, and in this scenario to introduce a 40mm non-return valve between the tee and the vented stack? Reason I need to get this right is because the local bco wants to see 'drainage' when he comes to sign...

    Bath & Basin Waste Q's

I recently fitted a bath and basin at home, the waste from each converges at a pushfit tee in the bathroom (ie 2 into 1), with one 40mm waste pipe exiting the tee and thru the cavity wall, out to a upvc stack with a bossed connection. A builder saw this the other day and said I should have...

How to fix toilet onto tiled/asphalt floor?

Bathrooom has porcelain tiles (10mm) adhered to an asphalt floor (property recently damp proofed). Toilet has been sited in the bathroom, not sure how I should fix in place, as drilling thru the asphalt will compromise the dpc? Should I silicone the toilet pan onto the tiles and not bother with...
