Thanks for the reply. Problem is I'm using special heat proof adhesive and the company state it must be applied in 1 layer. I need a final finished thickness of around 4 to 5mm but finding the square notch 8mm squashed down to far less than I require.was hoping I may be able to use a different...

I've done the hearth (see pic) and now need to tile around the opening. I'm needing to build the tiles out a bit and finding that a 8mm square notch Trowell is not giving...

Hi all hoping someone can advice. I'm about to apply some tiles to my concrete hearth. Tiles are 4 x 2 inch. Screed over fresh concrete

Just got round to sorting this. Did 4.1 mix. Fairly wet with cement and SBS slurry first. Left it to stiffen up a bit and then leveled off the surface with a straight edge. Had wet towels over it for last four days to stop it drying too quickly. All looking good so far so thanks for all the...

    Screed over fresh concrete

Thanks very much for the info it's much appreciated I'll use a straight edge to level it off but should I float the surface as it starts to stiffen of just leave it.would floating give a harder final surface plus is 4.1 the best ratio for this
