No I'd rather just cut the nicked cable 8cm (where the nick is) then join live/neutral/earth together with the 2-way line wago connectors (wago connectors would be inside an accessible 1 gang backbox with front plate). Not going to replace the short piece to socket. Sounds ok?

The hole in the bar is from below so I assume you mean the crook pin needs to hook over the tube from below? To hook the long end of the crook pin over the tube I need to hammer the the crook pin, as in position in JPEG 'crook pin position' upwards. Can't see another way of doing it. Am I right?
