    Down pipe

Thanks for all your help I’ve spoken to a builder who is coming to have a look monday so fingers crossed he can fit us in over the next couple of weeks.

    Down pipe

Sorry I think I’ve caused some confusion. I have plastic guttering which goes into cast iron downpipe. The previous home owners didn’t have them both changed. I think the downpipe is leaking as I have quite a wet patch on the front of the house where there is a bracket screwing the downpipe to...

    Down pipe

Hi really sorry, had a family emergency so haven’t been home in the day light the last couple of days. I appreciate your help and advice I’ll try and get some better photos tomorrow if it’s still light when I get home. Thank you

    Down pipe

Thanks for the reply. I’ve given it a little wipe a bit further down and it looks the same brown/orange colour as far down as I dared to reach, was worried a spider could have made its home down there

    Down pipe

Thanks for the reply the downpipe definitely needs replacing as it’s leaving a huge damp patch on my brickwork with all of this wonderful weather we are having. It looks a little damp around this broken pipe so I’ve asked a builder to have a look and see what he thinks the best thing to do is...

    Down pipe

Thank you for the replies. Daft question but would I need a plumber or builder to fix this? I’m wary of poking around it too much incase it’s really weak and I’ve no one on hand if it causes any other issues

    Down pipe

Good evening, I have some cast iron downpipe thats leaking, I’m having it replaced but it goes just underground into what looks like cement pipe what’s cracked and breaking away. Has anyone come across this pipe being asbestos before please?

    Down pipe

Thanks for replying, this was under some slabs with a bush next to it, I think the roots from the bush grew and cracked the slabs and cement so I’ve removed them (and the bush!) but was worried the pipe/bend the downpipe is cemented into could be asbestos which fell away while I was tidying up

    Asbestos in ceiling?

I’m glad you’ve got no signs of illness from it. I hope my test results were correct and there was none

    Asbestos in ceiling?

That’s what’s happened. Everything I’ve read online suggests it could have been there and now I’ve sent off one sample I wonder if it’s enough

    Asbestos in ceiling?

You are probably right. My husband said no more, just accept the answer with one sample. I just wondered if people who came across this within their work would be happy with just one sample

    Asbestos in ceiling

We ended up sending in a sample. It came back negative but I’m now wondering if I should have sent off multiple samples from different areas? I’ve never done this before, if one sample came back negative would you be happy with that result?

    Asbestos in ceiling?

Thank you for your reply, please don’t think I was being rude by asking. I work with quite a few trades people and most have said they don’t think it would contain asbestos or they wouldn’t have even thought about it but none have given me a detailed answer like yours. Also the house next door...

    Asbestos in ceiling

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. If the area hadn’t have been so big I would have been able to move on without worrying so much but 4ftx6ft could potentially have released millions of fibres if there were any in there. I think I need to stop googling as that can’t give me the answer...

    Asbestos in ceiling?

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I’ve fallen headfirst into google over this. I’ve read on a few websites that mortar/cement (I don’t know the difference) which shows small individual white hairs contained asbestos. I know nothing about this only what I’ve read that’s why I thought I’d...
