    Cement around Drain corroded

It’s not cement, it’s the hopper. It’s a seperate part to the gully that sits on top to give a bigger catchment area and to hold the grid. Take the metal grid out and you will see a joint a couple of inches down, remove everything from there upwards. It will either be 4 or 6inch and that size...

    Door with sidelights

I fitted a Solidor with top and sidelights and that’s pretty solid. They join them with aluminium couplers so they stay strong. I got it from Keyframe in Bolton.

I was pulled for being over weight, 7.4% over is £100 fine but no points. I can’t complain, I was in the wrong and the copper was fair.

    Iron water main

You can normally tap all the crust off with a brick hammer to leave it clean enough for a connection with a Plass4 or whatever. Horrible stuff though, look inside it after you cut the section out  3rd pic looks like it’s gone on a joint so you might be lucky with the pipe either side.

Reducing sound through party wall, which insulation?

I made the frame tonight. Daughter pulled down the first 6” of ceiling and mortared all around the joists and filled any holes, then we made the frame and fixed it to the ceiling joists through some thick rubber that was a bandseal I had that was missing it’s clips. Had to stop because we...

    Sanity check this quote

I would want a drawing of the subframe so you know how far apart the joists will be and how many posts into the ground.

Reducing sound through party wall, which insulation?

I had a read up today and chose Rockwool Sound Slab, seemed heavy at 60kg/m3. So now I plan on actually doing the job. Where I fix onto the walls at the sides should I put rubber washers between my wood frame and the brick to seperate them? Same for into the joists at the top?

    Pipes through brick inspection chamber

I would dig under the pipe, fill with concrete then drop some plastic risers onto the concrete (trim the bottom one at each side to fit over the pipe). Probably a 450mm if it shallow.

Reducing sound through party wall, which insulation?

2 kitchens back onto each other either side of this wall: I want to reduce the noise and plan to build a frame from 2x2, spaced 50mm off the wall, fit a full layer of 50mm acoustic slabs behind it then a further layer between the wood. I went to get some Rockwool RWA45 today but was told...

    Lowering ceiling by 100mm?

I just looked at that but not sure I understand how I would lower it 100mm. Would I have to make a full frame bolted in lower down? I don’t really like the idea of that.

    Lowering ceiling by 100mm?

That’s a good idea too but the cost could be a bit steep.

    Lowering ceiling by 100mm?

Ah yes, I’d read about not fixing it to the actual party wall so will be sure to do that again (y) This was my previous effort, it wasn’t RWA45 but was similar. https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/reducing-sound-through-party-wall-in-loft-conversion.496221/

    Lowering ceiling by 100mm?

We knocked a wall down on Sunday and sat for a bit after, admiring it. We could hear the neighbours moving around and taking, but, the house is fully empty of furniture, all the doors are off and half of the plaster. For the price of 2 packs of RWA45 and some I think it will help. I can...

    Lowering ceiling by 100mm?

Yes, plenty of insulation. I was going to line a party wall in the dining room with sound insulation too, probably Rockwool RWA45

    Lowering ceiling by 100mm?

I got her to measure the ceilings tonight and they are 2.6 so pretty high and I reckon we would do the same in all 3 bedrooms. I’m going to do 1 room and see how it looks/feels (y)
