Beam size above a double garage door opening.

I'm looking at putting up a carport at the top of the garden behind the garage. Id like to have a double width garage door on the front to make it easy to swing big stuff in and out while turning. The width of the opening will be around 5m wide and be along the gutter side of the roof so bearing...

    TRV stuck shut

Ok so I've found the lock shield valve was only open about 1/8th of a turn. Opened it up to 1/4 and the rad is getting nice and warm. Its a fair way from the boiler so id expect it to be a bit more open that that I'll have too check the balancing record to see what it should be set at. Can't...

    TRV stuck shut

The pin moves freely up and down (although you need something hard to push it as it digs into your figure)

    TRV stuck shut

One of my Drayton TRV has stuck in the off position, I can turn the TRV head from frost to max but the radiator just won't get warm, I've bleed it and get water out so i know its not air locked. The next 2 radiators on that pipe run are both getting hot as is the pipe work directly by the tee...

Difference between boiler flow and return temperatures

It a Worster Bosch Greenstar 40 CDi classic regular ErP. I've just noticed the digital display on the front of the boiler is saying 65. I have rechecked the flow pipe temperature directly as it comes out of the boiler case, with an analogue pipe thermometer and a digital thermocouple on my...

Difference between boiler flow and return temperatures

The rooms do seem to take a while to heat up normally over an hour in the mornings, But it's an unusual house with lots of single glazed chital leaded light windows and most rooms have at least 3 outside walls. I've just fitted some fancy digital TRV's as the nice antique looking ones didn't...

Difference between boiler flow and return temperatures

I've just installed 2 digital temperature probes on the boiler flow and return pipes, to try and ensure the boiler is condensing, below the magic number( what ever it is, but that's another discussion). When the system start up from cold in the morning the temperature difference between flow and...

    ducting heat loss

I've just replaced an insulated flexible duct that form part of our warm air heating system. After a few hours of running the room it feeds still hasn't warmed up much. So I went up into the loft void where the duct runs and it was quite warm to touch. I them put a temperature probe at each end...

RCBO keeps tripping out to outbuildings

In example 4 if a stray live conductor touched the isolated copper pipe it would raise it to mains voltage but would not trip any safety devices as there is no path back to ground (its isolated). If you then touched the copper pipe/tap while standing on a wet floor for example you would receive...

RCBO keeps tripping out to outbuildings

sorry my bad English I got it the wrong way round I meant dead short. RCBO keeps tripping out to outbuildings

Hammered a long screwdriver into the wet ground outside and repurposed an extension lead to run back to the garage consumer unit checked between Live, neutral and earth and the ground outside, via the extension lead and screwdriver and I've got infinite resistance i.e. dead short on all 3, So I...

RCBO keeps tripping out to outbuildings

it's nearly 60m so I'd prefer not to pull it out if I can help it. If I do pull it out I might as well pull a new one in at the same time, as it's going to take ages and at least i should have solved the issue with a new cable. If it is the cable. One thought i had was to wire and extension lead...

RCBO keeps tripping out to outbuildings

No its a single cable between them no joints. We did have rain so could be a possibility, but its run through a duct the whole way and the duct looks dry. I've just re checked with the cable disconnected completely at both ends (hanging in free air as opposed to in a screw terminal with the...

RCBO keeps tripping out to outbuildings

I've just gone out to the garage and found the power was off. The small fuse board in there was all on, but when i check the main board in the house the 45A RCBO that feed the garage was off. I tried to turn it back on and it just trips straight off again, wont stay on. I then went out and...

    6 core flex for programmer

there is a link between 3 and 4 hence i only ned 6 core not 7. I'd really prefer not to use all black cores, with the little numbers printed on them . potential for mistakes as it's inevitable in the back of a cupboard in a hard to see spot. Coloured is best.
