    Interesting Fault - Viessmann Boiler

Fell foul to this myself on non-heating wiring. It feels good when the penny drops, or as in my case, is explained.

Is there a built in bypass in Worcester Bosch Greenstar 28cdi Compact ErP?

Yes, the internal bypass is a boiler protection device to ensure there is always an adequate flow across the heat exchanger. Frankly the boiler manufacturer has little control on what happens outside the product but generally one radiator of decent size with only lockshield valve control preset...

Viessmann vitodens 200 low modulation low run time high return temp

Just re-reading earlier posts. The control will be fitted to system or combi boilers, that's why there's a DHW schedule, we do the same. Are there preheat options on that boiler? 24 hour, touch n go or smart preheat?

Viessmann vitodens 200 low modulation low run time high return temp

I might have remembered past post badly. There may be an anti-cycle delay but it is not adjustable as on other boilers. The timeline is jolly annoying when trying to attribute a time to an occurrence, if I were a Viessmann installer I'd write and ask for a datum pointer at the three hourly...

Viessmann vitodens 200 low modulation low run time high return temp

What does the Y axis represent on the burner on graph? There seems a 9⁰C ∆T on F&R which o think is good on a low temp system. I mentioned FB as there are groups of Viessmann installers on there very knowledgeable who have confronted these issues before and may be able to help.

Viessmann vitodens 200 low modulation low run time high return temp

I don't know the Viessmann that intimately but on some boilers you can raise the minimum or lower the max but not the opposite. It should be in the manual.

Viessmann vitodens 200 low modulation low run time high return temp

I've seen similar threads elsewhere with the 200's. Not an expert on Viessmann's but I watch the posts closely. The company have put all their efficiency ambitions into the wide modulation which has considerations of it's own There is no anti-cycle delay nor heating after hot water delay, it...

Ideal Mexico 2 Replacement With Commercial Size Pipework

It's a strip out and start again. You'll need a boiler and a hot water cylinder either unvented or vented dependent on cold main pressure and loft space. Shop around for an experienced engineer. How many is quite a few heating engineers? Find more. Don't use the flue again.

    Atag rubbish boilers???

It's under warranty isn't it, any boiler can go wrong? The price is the same as other similar boilers, why did you pay extra?

    Boiler modulation with LLH

You can argue that the LLH is to ensure pumps do not conflict but actually it's main purpose is to ensure the boiler heat exchanger always has the correct flow rate across it no matter how the system flow rates changed. Highly restrictive heat exchangers such as those mentioned with low residual...

Preparation in case of boiler / smart thermostat failure?

Glad you used the phrase ball park, there's usually a discrepancy which you can work around and adjust if it is consistant. The trouble comes when manufacturers change weather station contracts.

Very high 75,000kw per annum gas consumption

Get a gas tightness test. How many people in the house, water usage, corner baths, long showers? 40kW sounds ridiculous but even so, say the house loss is in reality 20kW, the house cannot absorb 40 so the boiler will be cycling a lot, you say yours is not. Can the boiler be range rated...

Small DHW Tank with a Combi?

The boiler's not a bit of a dog then, the installers seem to be. When their pipework is sorted put the boiler in preheat mode to get water to the tap faster but there is a cost implication to that.

    Convert to shower?

If you can get to the pipework beneath the floor run shower supplies up the other side of the wall or from somewhere to a hanging shower head above the bath and use a remote shower control, there are even voice activated models. If the existing curtain and rail doesn't completely enclose the...

Old condensing boiler temperature control - optimum setting?

Start from around the middle then on the coldest day you experience, if you find you are not comfortable enough, increase the setpoint incrementally until the radiators, if they are you heat emitters, supply enough heat. Waste of time giving temperatures as you have no reference on the boiler.

Boiler / Radiator BTU Delta - Should I be using T50 or T60?

If you're going to get this involved do it right. As mentioned on first page, www.heat-engineer.com. spend £10 +VAT, best part of a day learning and using it then you know where you're starting from. I reckon much of the existing will be ok. Rad sizes, new and existing and options are easy...

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

Simple solution keep cylinder (do you have an immersion heater for backup?). New boiler, keep pump for hot water in shower then everything else except kitchen cold is at same pressure and gravity is your friend (if that goes you'll have more pressing issues to deal with) Minimum pipework...

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

If someone wants a house they'll want it. They'll always look for reasons why they should get it cheaper but it's just part of the game. Do you look for a four bed house, must have hot water tank in not combi? The OP is going to live life there for himself and his wife, not for people he...
