It’s really dusty but you can buy grinding cups for angle grinders. Having a water spray helps with dust, or use a good wet/dry vacuum .

You could get them back to add more concrete? Or carefully dig on your side and expose the face of the concrete and add some post mix yourself. How long have the posts been up? It’s not good to wiggle the posts if the concreted hasn’t set yet

is the newel square at the base? You could easily cut a bit out of that joist on top and a bit at the side to get a good fit. It’s a shame it’s veneered. Unless you can get veneer patches from the company.

That won’t work. I doubt if even the type that is intended to be set in concrete would work. You can buy extensions for spade drills. In the long run, it’s easier to use an Sds and drill out the concrete

I always thought (am a DIY) that the MOT needs compacting, then about 50mm of compacted sand. The DPM sits on the sand or the MOT will puncture it. Could be wrong!
