Converting a double socket - do these parts exist?

Yeah, you can drill out a Euromodule blank and fit some sort of cable restraint in the hole, but you are still left with no room for switches because Euro modules only fit 4 modules on a double plate :(

Converting a double socket - do these parts exist?

2 gang FCU with switches and flex outlets can be done with click minigrid. 2xMD017PW 2xMD018PW 2xMD047PW 1xCMA426 One caveat, the terminals on the minigrid modules are quite small, those on the swtich and fuse modules can take 2x2.5mm but only barely. I'm not sure about the ones on the flex...

    Wago snapping

The levers on the 221s are quite fragile, I've had one break when figiting with it. The 222s have much more robust levers, but are substantially bulkier.

How do I wire this a socket?

There do exist "clean earth" sockets which have the earth connection for the outlet intentionally seperated from that for the backbox/faceplate. There also exist modular sockets which have them seperated as a consequence of the modularity. But both are unusual,.

Buying wood (as someone who doesn't drive).

Yeah, the 1x6's on Wicks have an average 2 star review.

For a change, good news, price of electric being reduced.

    Many are r*tards or fraudsters.

Buying wood (as someone who doesn't drive).

I'd like to buy some softwood, specifically I'd like a length of planed "1x6"s but this is a more general question and depending on the answers I may actually want to buy a mix of wood. I don't drive. I can cut wood to length. Previously most of my wood has either come from my dad or from...

Light not working after blown bulb replaced.

I do wonder with fake rewires. Is it DIYers doing it? is it dodgy tradesmen working in collusion with their customers? or is it dodgy tradesmen ripping off their customers?

    Small euro/shaver socket

MK do make architrave plates/boxes for grid plus, but afaict they only do it in the edge/aspect ranges, not the "plus" ranges.

It is safe to touch the plastic housing of an ac connector on a wired Nest Protect smoke alarm?

I would consider touching such a connector the same as touching a wire with only "basic insulation". Indeed the conductors coming out the back of the connector appear to only have basic insulation. If everything is in good condition then touching it should be fine, but it does not have the same...

The problem with a looped supply questions.

The problem is lets say you have a 100A cable feeding two properties, each with a fuse of say 60A. No one property can overload the supply, but if both draw full power at the same time the cable would be overloaded. If the fuses are 80A or if there are more than two properties then the potential...

The problem with a looped supply questions.

As you say there is often a risk of overloading with a looped supply because the supply cable (and indeed the terminals in the cutout) is usually not rated to the full load current of both fuses at the same time, but there would also be a risk of overloading with a supply that split to feed two...

    Wylex plug in mcb availability

Ge sold breakers for wylex standard CUs under the name "mini trip". Afaict these used a "rewirable style" base, while the wylex breakers used a "cartridge fuse sytle" base.

20a IEC connector on a welder

That particular connector is totally unsuitable for use a mains inlet because it has pins on the cable connector, and holes on the chassis connector. For an inlet you need the pins to be on the chassis connector and the holes to be on the same cable connector. Beyond that there are several...

    Double socket converter

They are substantially higher profile than a regular flush double socket, but still substantially lower profile than a surface socket. Most of them also "look cheap", the plastic is different from regular sockets (more similar to the plastic used for extension sockets) and the arrangement of...

Plug in solar, what do you think?

There is also the question of what do you base your break-even calculations on. 1. Do you use todays electricity prices straight, or do you make some assumptions about how electricity prices will rise in the future? 2. Do you account for "cost of funds"? if so at what rate. 3. How do you...

Plug in solar, what do you think?

Depends what your goal is. Are you trying to minimise time to break even? Are you trying to spend money now to hedge against rising electricity prices in the future? Are you trying to prepare for a world in which the grid is no longer reliable?

Plug in solar, what do you think?

With a DP/SP+N RCD or RCBO it's not so bad, because the device tripping will interrupt the path to earth, even if there is generation on the output, but with a SP RCBO you will have to wait for the inverter to shut down before the fault path is interrupted.

    Imigrants wishing to stay.

The devil as-always is in the detail. The UK already has english language requirements for many Visas, as well as for settlement and citizenship, so what does this announcement mean? does it mean that the list of accepted tests will be changed? does it mean that people who have already...

Plug in solar, what do you think?

It's not exactly a "widow maker" in the conventional sense, because grid-tie solar inverters are designed to shut down on loss of grid. but it obviously raises questions of how rapid and reliable that shutdown is. Mind you, similar questions could be asked about large motor loads which may take...
