Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Appreciate all the advice. I probably am overthinking it. It's just a mix of wanting to do a really proper job, so I don't have to do it again for a long time, and learning as I go and not wanting to mess up. I did make a bit of extra work for myself. The flush left the system running pretty...

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Yeh, it's just a bit frustrating, as I am at most getting only 1.5-2l out of a drain each time I flush, out of 5.3l of capacity.

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Further Question: I've seen the suggestion that after draining I should turn the car over/start for a few seconds to let the pump push/drain any further coolant out. Any reasons why this would be a bad idea?

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Ahh yeh, I just rewatched the video. He uses a hose kit to fully connect it to the mains. He just said don't open the tap full. I assume I'm also ok to flush into the hoses that connect to the heat exchanger. Also....from what I can see. I'm only ever getting around 2 or 2.5l on a drain...

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Update: Flush going well. I emptied the water I filled it with last time after a bit of driving and it came out brown, then decided to do the rad flush with a hose. I also put the hose in the top hopper and flushed from there, and kept going until the water was coming out clear. This is the...

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Hmm, yeh I was wondering that That concern was at the back of my mind. So you think it's more of a risk than reward running a cleaner, hmm. I went for the prestone coolant cleaner which claims to not be too harsh. It's nothing acidic or too caustic I don't think. But, maybe I see how these...

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Ahh, good. I thought it was something along those lines. I am still trying to work out if the car has a potential overheating problem. Or if it just needs a good service. So doing this coolant flush first. Everything has gone smoothly thus far. The system needs a good flush/clean though...

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

I was just worried about the overflow more then anything. Did I just over fill it or was it because I opened it while it was slightly hot?

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

In the midst of replacing the heater control valve. But after seeing the state of the coolant, I decided to do a full flush. It's a bit of a pain on the KA. But I eventually got to the lower rad hose, and drained it. It takes around 5l and 2.5 litres came out. I also gave the hopper box a...

Customer service from main dealers, it is always this bad?

Haha, I'm not worthy of a citroen dealership if I need to ask the cost it seems.

Customer service from main dealers, it is always this bad?

Indeed it should, but citroen seemingly skip that part. The service book is useless. But I have found the schedule online. But, I asked the question anyway (partly playing dumb), as I ideally want to know the cost of the service items beforehand. But they are avoiding the answer.

Customer service from main dealers, it is always this bad?

So putting on my cynic hat (which I seem to wear permanently these days). The reason they probably don't want to tell me about scheduled service items beforehand is that it's more likely they can make me relent into getting them done once they have the car.

Customer service from main dealers, it is always this bad?

It's the citroen adblue system. In a perfect world it should be a recall item due to it being seemingly being poor design, but citroen have thus far refused to class it as such. It's a bit of a known scandal for citroen/peugeot owners. Although I suspect the issue could be exacerbated by poor...

Customer service from main dealers, it is always this bad?

I have a car, which was previously a lease. Part of the lease package meant that I never had to concern myself with services or tyres etc. After the end of the lease, I decided to buy it as there was nothing on the market any more that matched what I wanted. So now I have to book all the...

    Fridge Not cooling, Problem solving.....

Yeh, there was no "code" as such. The light just blinked indefinitely. It was as if there was something not meeting start requirements. It eventually started though and seems to be performing flawlessly.

    Fridge Not cooling, Problem solving.....

i have a further curious issue that is "fixed" but not sure why it is happening. The fridge/freezer fails to power up, somewhat inconsistently. Even thought it finally powered up, I can't quite work out why it was doing what it was doing. After plugging it in, and pressing the power button, I...

    Fridge Not cooling, Problem solving.....

Update! Finally had a chance to do a full 24hr defrost and trace all the vent paths using strimmer wire and a hair dryer to do a vent test. I traced the problem to the return vent from the fridge to the freezer. The strimmer wire was getting stuck on something cold. Turns out it was...

Red Antifreeze/Coolant - how specific? Ford Ka tinkering.

About to do a my first flush of a the coolant (more ford KA tinkering). Finally replacing the heater control valve and thought I should do a full flush at the same time, as well as popping in a new thermostat. I know it requires red OAT type coolant, but I was wondering how specific do I need...

    Fridge Not cooling, Problem solving.....

I can hear relays clicking when I open the door. The fan runs fine, no catching on ice. I can feel airflow in the freezer section. I can also see the damper rotating or staying in close and/or open position. Freezer is staying perfectly cold. No over-icing/build-up. It's looking like a slow...
