It must be time for frost stat questions

No probs made up for the fact that some of your older posts had helped me. Perhaps I'm getting too old and confused these days but did you post something about Opentherm ? That's what I've finally got working on my old S-Plan. Btw my previous boiler just had _one_ terminal which needed a SL...

It must be time for frost stat questions

I've got mine working now. What Stem describes is I think for a traditional boiler expecting a "switched live" input. My boiler has two low voltage terminals that when OPEN (not connected to each other) the boiler fires. Therefore, the wiring is the complete opposite. The boiler is an Intergas...

It must be time for frost stat questions

So my heat only boiler has two low-voltage terminals for the frost stat. If left open the boiler will turn on so if there is no frost stat present a link needs to be put in to join the terminals. But I want to put in a frost stat ..... I've been scratching my head wondering how am I going to...

Several sockets and lights on a spur?

But is such a spur allowed ?

    Borrowing a live

Just to play devil's advocate and further my own understanding, presumably there is nothing wrong from a wiring perspective with say a programmer being on one circuit and a thermostat being on another? Each device would be powered by the live on that circuit and returned to the consumer unit...

Several sockets and lights on a spur?

Hello All 2.5mm ring is protected by a 32a rcbo in the main consumer unit. I'm thinking about using a short length of 4mm to spur from a socket into the garage which is on the other side of the wall. This would feed a small "garage" consumer unit with a (I think pointless from a protection...

Can I used a vented cylinder stat with 24V?

I've got a 240v Drayton HTS3 cylinder stat which I think is designed to work with 240v. My question is can I use it with a 24V low voltage common or does the stat itself need 240v in order to operate ? If I can't use it are there any alternative other than external relay ?

Boiler running without pump dangerous ?

Thanks all - good variety of comments. The flow switch is something I hadn't thought of so in theory you could cap off the flow and return at the boiler and it just wouldn't start. Not that I recommended trying that test at home..... I maybe be in a situation where I'm relying on a motorised...

Boiler running without pump dangerous ?

I have a feeling I'm asking for too much for this to be answered without a "why are you asking?" but here goes my 2 questions just in case anyone is kind enough to constructively reply. 1/ I have a Heat Only boiler on an S-Plan. If the external pump failed would the boiler just run for a bit...

    Intergas, Opentherm and Nest

Appreciate this is some time ago but definitely applies to today. I've just got my head around X-Plan and was thinking of doing that albeit with a relay+NC valve instead of shelling out £120 on a 28mm NO. Then I read this. Right in post 1, the OP says that "The heating functions perfectly -...

    Honeywell MV Actuator Compatibility

Not doubting you at all but given the NO valve is £120 (!!) need to be sure. Was that from their tech support telephone or tech support datasheets I could look at myself?

    Honeywell MV Actuator Compatibility

Hello All The last thread I can find about this is from 2004 and there was no conclusion. I have a V4043H on some 28mm pipe. Can I buy a 22mm V4043B1257 (i.e. normally open valve) like this one www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235808292122 take the head off and fit it to my existing one ?

Opentherm Weather Comp and Intergas HRE 24 OV

Your combination of trades is the best possible IMO - will encourage my son to do something like that if he shows interest. Hmm a new 28mm NO valve would be about £115. Might be easier to fit something like this to reverse the NO/NC signal. Don't think its a safety critical issue as no valves...

    Intergas X-plan with two zones

Just found this MNW67 - I know its a couple of years ago but what did you do in the end? Which controller? Do you know if the nest will send signals on both OT and SL ?

Opentherm Weather Comp and Intergas HRE 24 OV

Very interesting thanks - does appear to be a solution. Only issue is we have 2 heating zones. The second one is for just two rooms with its own controller and isn't used that often. Maybe I could leave that MV as a NC type and leave that zone as non-OT. If that called for demand I guess the...

Opentherm Weather Comp and Intergas HRE 24 OV

I'm definitely warming to the idea (so to speak) but the problem I have is my system is an S-Plan. So I would need the controller to open the MVs over 240v AND then talk Opentherm over the twin data cables. I've read that some people have done this but not convinced as I think it would need the...

Opentherm Weather Comp and Intergas HRE 24 OV

Not simultaneously obviously but for example if your heating is on and has reached steady state and then your controller suddenly wants to heat up the HW then it should instruct the boiler to go to max temperature and when finished revert back to opentherm (or in your case the Valliant system...

Opentherm Weather Comp and Intergas HRE 24 OV

Lots of old threads and questions about opentherm on an S-plan. Anyone know if any of the controllers solve the issues? i.e. open the respective MVs then allow opentherm to take over when its heating? HW to take priority and run at max temp etc ?

Opentherm Weather Comp and Intergas HRE 24 OV

A couple of interesting replies - thanks. What controller are you both using ? I started looking into EPH and liked what I saw. The main down point seems to be cosmetic - it looks crap. Nest v3 is another option I suppose. It seems there aren't many....
