Mould on inside of flat roof.

Then sterilise the mould, pack some rockwool into the ceiling void to deal with cold spot (the area affected by mould), and then fix the celling layer to match the rest. This assumes that the mould is resulting from excess warm air getting to the roof deck via the lack of ceiling, and once you...

    XPS as external wall insulation

EPS is not more breathable, and no foamed insulation board is. Either board is suitable for EWI and render, with XPS being a slightly better insulator for the same thickness

    Washing exterior brick wall

Avoid a hose as that will saturated the wall. Use a jet wash on low pressure and a distance from the surface. Use a soap product to lift the dust, rather than it get ingrained. Not a normal detergent or anything chlorine based, but either a specific masonry cleaner or a ph-neutral soap as used...

Mould on inside of flat roof.

You say there is no plasterboard and you mention cladding and sealing the ceiling. Does this mean you have no ceiling around the flue - just a gap and this mould is on the underside of the roof deck?

    Pooling on new flat roof

That's significant. Even if the roof is being just recovered, it's implied that it should drain properly and some basic checks of the deck should be made, and the client advised if there is an issue with the levels. If the work included new decking, then its not just implied but expected...

Cost for bricking up a small window?

I've had quotes recently for a standard day's work (4 hours) saying 30 litres of unleaded and a Greggs voucher, and 20 litres of diesel and a Ryanair single ticket for the same day - I'm still awaiting references for the second one. You need to sharpen your pencil.

Cost for bricking up a small window?

It's a days work for one man. Whatever a days work costs. Are brickies on £400 /day, £96k /year? [Breaks glass to get emergency trowel]

    New roof?

More of an independent person who will report only and won't be touting for work. A building surveyor normally, or an independent roofing surveyor. Ideally, you would get a report telling you what's wrong and a specification telling you what needs to be done to fix it. You then give the...

25 year compared to 75 year life. How does that factor in to savings in electricity?

Time for a new roof, or keep patching things up?

It all comes down to the difference between quotes for repair and for replace. But 60-80 years is typical expected life of those tiles. I don't know what the roofer was talking about regarding counter battens.

    New roof?

It's invariably much less to repair than replace. The tiles will have another 40 years life. You should get several quotes, and may like to consider getting a proper assessment done by a suitable person and one that will not benefit from the work they may recommend.

    Floating floor versus traditional footings

Rebuilding like for like will be more than double the cost, for about the same space and amenity. Rebuilding may attract planning permission requirement. If the floor slab remains, it will need insulation and a floor deck on top which will decrease the room height if the ceiling is at a fixed...

Extension ideas with first floor bay window

The bay won't impact the roof or the ceiling. Even if the ceiling is vaulted, it will (should) just be designed in.

Best way to protect bottom of bathroom door from steam after trimming?

They are wrong, and can't back up that opinion with any published guidance or standards. That argument about the airing cupboard is tenuous at best and nonsense at worse, and would mean every such airing cupboard no matter where it is located to require a fire door. In fact every cupboard or...
