    yes its perfectly ok and legal what he is doing and putting on the certificates . Usually they only ask for gassafe certificate for boiler installation and last service but there is an indeminity you can buy for likes of heating /double glazing that might be cheaper than getting it serviced

    baxi 830 to buy alone is about 1300 quid so must be a relatively straight forward job to do if they are both quoting same boiler its very hard to see where the additional 2200 quid is coming from

    Perhaps one guy is happy doing a quick efficient job and happy making £££ where as the other guy loves to look at BG prices and thinks he can get away with making ££££. Re prices always make sure that whoever is quoting are quoting for exactly the same job otherwise it is completely pointless...

    you always have an open port . Both ports can never closed at the same time.. And as we know one rad should always be trv free

    the top one is a manual bypass and can be left completely closed as you have a 3 port valve The bottom one is a balancing valve for the HW which from fully closed open it about 1 and half to 2 turns

    The 2 wanting over 2 grand for a possible 12 metre pipe run using no more than 150 quid of materials are trying to have your pants down . I would not be entertaining them in anyway . Simple pressure test at the boiler will confirm whether pipe needs upgraded You already have part 22mm pipe...
