Plug In Solar consultation now open

It does seem, what ever we think, that plug and play will be allowed, the only problem seems to be if the test button is pressed, but to instruct users not to press the test button still seems wrong. OK I don't use the test button, I have a tester, so I would never press the test button as for...

    Replace analog timer?

I note either central heating and hot water or only hot water, which points to a C Plan. There is no option for central heating only. Back when CFL lights first came out, I realised there was a problem. With tungsten lamps the inferred from the lamp resulted in the evening when one was just...

    Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 Review

I thought OK let me read it, maybe they have something I could use. - 2 year battery life, well about average, depends on what batteries are used. - Fine temperature control in 0.5°C steps well that's normal for all the electronic TRVs I have. - Comparison between Aqara W600 and Danfoss RAS-C2...

I suppose if pressing the test button causes it to fail, then it is in a household where the test button is used, so they will know that the device has failed reasonably soon after the event.

A head-on fatal collision between two trains in mid Wales could have been avoided, an investigation has found.

We used to have a token system, developed due to a head on crash on the same track, the historic 1921 Abermule disaster started the use of tokens, but today they use computers instead it seems. On the Welshpool to Llanfair track when there are two trains which is not very common, one can be...

    The sun….

Terry Pratchett rules or what. I would assume on the equinox it would raise in the east but at other times of the year it must alter? Likely ENE in summer and ESE in the winter, or is it the other way around, and even on the equinox it would be only true if out of sight of land. The terrain to...

A head-on fatal collision between two trains in mid Wales could have been avoided, an investigation has found.

The article says using the manual sander would have prevented the crash the automatic sander it seems was not working, but since the driver did not know it was not working, to have added more sand when he thought sand was already being put on the rails, just seems wrong. so why would he...

    Plastic KETER sheds

My shed I brought the SWA up into an outside socket and other side of the shed skin is an inside socket box and socket, so rather than screwing into the shed skin, they pull against themselves. Also means it enters the shed high up, so less likely a way in for creepy crawlies. For a freezer...

Dug down to deep for shed base

My shed is on plastic pallets, so nothing stays wet.

    Smart Fused Spurs

Why? Not saying that is wrong, but I can't think of any reason why. Like you, I have had some problems with smart devices, I have lost one plug in smart socket adaptor, three smart light switches, and two smart sockets, so I favour using adaptors now, as easy to replace if it fails. I use...

32A Commando plug to BS1363 socket

@austin99 found a lead so it does seem in many ways a pointless discussion. I have wondered how much the earth voltage would rise with a loss of PEN? I think the problem is, when we started using PME the loads were reasonably even phase to phase, but today we have EVs which put a high load on...

32A Commando plug to BS1363 socket

We seem to have two threads, about completely different things, but with the same response, do we really think it is likely to happen, we are talking about a risk assessment.

Steps, cement or not, and what to put under them.

That is the sort of thing I am looking at, but what to plant, and how much soil is required etc.

Plug In Solar consultation now open

Good point, but we have talked about plug in solar a lot since March, and only point which seems to be a problem in real terms is unidirectional devices, which seems to be the RCBO, and there are type A RCBOs which are unidirectional, and they have no marking to tell anyone is unidirectional or...

32A Commando plug to BS1363 socket

True, I should ask @austin99 is the commando socket fed from a supply with loss of PEN detection. Loss of PEN detection I suppose was not as important for something used outdoors for a short length of time, but an EV is charged for a long time.

Steps, cement or not, and what to put under them.

So still looking at the sleeper wall, needs a box of some sort to hold enough soil to support plants to hide the wall. I looked at this and realised the top has a membrane to hold the water, so maybe better with something like this but gardening is not my thing, so looking for ideas.

32A Commando plug to BS1363 socket

I find the whole loss of PEN precisions a bit odd, if we can't have an EV plugged in without loss of PEN detection, then the same should apply to any other class I outside appliance. Be it a patio heater or anything else. I have never understood why an EV is not made as a class II appliance...

    EPC rating

Properties do change, I looked at fathers-in-law, and my house next door but one to each other, and there was a marked difference, OK a few points due to an inoperative water solar panel array. Fact it had never worked from new was not taken into account. But his triple glazing, had same...
