Shower tray cracked and redoing the installation

Oh dear. I feel your pain. Plumbers in particular we've had loads of issues with. Hence why I now do my own plumbing and bathrooms and use this forum if I need any tips. I actually find it less stressful. I'd just start again with a new tray, if it were me. Looking at the first photo I don' t...

I completely agree that is not a coincidence. Why don't you call him back?

Shower tray cracked and redoing the installation

They are expensive but we opted for a steel tray for the current shower room I'm redoing, to eliminate this risk. Really nice and simple installation system as well- polystyrene inserts that fit inside the perimeter, and then glued to sub floor- absolutely rock solid now with no movement. I...

    High temp heat pumps??

I would doubt it. We have one motorised valve and obviously the immersion will be much less efficient. ASHP HW is currently running at a cop of 3.5 so will be significantly higher efficiency in summer. Immersion would be 1kW in and 1kW out. Unless you had a solar diverter perhaps but then that...

    High temp heat pumps??

It will be for both- maximum flow temp it can produce either for your CH or cylinder. What you obviously do is schedule the hot water so it will reheat cylinder (which the ASHP will always prioritise over heating and divert the flow to the heating coil) at certain times. This is typically set at...

    High temp heat pumps??

You won’t be saving much if anything. I monitored exactly the same thing- heating duration via the nest, versus our actual usage on Hugo. On weekends the duration was more obviously, but that would equate to something like 5kW gas. So for a saving of 20-30p we’d come back from work to a really...

    High temp heat pumps??

Not convinced zoning and set backs are any cheaper to run long term. Even with the gas boiler and nest thermostat geo fencing to switch off when away from 0700 until 1700 (when at work) the difference in our gas usage versus weekends was negligible. I then tried smart TRVs and zoning areas of...

Best way to configure toilet pan connectors

Ah yes that would probably be the simplest way. I guess I was a bit concerned about it sagging on the longer run across and whether there was a better way with rigid pipe, and a shorter flexi connector of some description. Perhaps I’m over complicating it though .

Best way to configure toilet pan connectors

Hi all, In the final stages of my shower room project and now need to sort the pan connections for the toilet. We have a 110mm pipe exiting from the wall as per photo (the black is just tape and bag to cover it whilst renovating). There will be a slight fall taking into account the height of...

    High temp heat pumps??

If it helps, we have an averagely (at best) insulated 1970s house. To give you an idea, full width dormers across the first floor. 12mm plasterboard and 100mm loft roll type insulation crudely taped to the reverse- then cladding tiles. In places around the eaves we actually have no insulation-...

    Electric cooker replacement

Thanks very much for everyones help and advice! Edit: found this video which explains it really well in terms of why 45a circuit not needed.

    Electric cooker replacement

Ah right...makes sense. I have now unscrewed the small backplate and can see the 5 connection points with correlate with the wiring diagram on the back. Thanks for confirming the 32A circuit will be fine. Last question, I think. What cable do I need and how would I connect the live and link to...

    Electric cooker replacement

I did wonder that, as there's no way AO were going to do that with the swap over. All they wanted to know is whether there was a big red switch... https://shop.smeguk.com/range-cookers/electric-cookers/c6ipxt2-60cm-concert-pyro-cooker-with-induction-hob-and-digitouch-control-stainless-steel/...

    Electric cooker replacement

Thanks both. The new oven fuse rating is indeed 45amp. We have a big red switch (I can remove it to double check the reverse but looks like oven switches are all rated at 45amp?). I assume I may well have a cooker connection unit behind the oven somewhere? The breaker is B32 (it's the one...

    Electric cooker replacement

Hi all, We've got a new freestanding electric oven with induction hob- I need to replace an existing integrated gas hob and oven. Quite happy with the worktop cabinet alterations....the kitchen is being redone soon anyway. I'm also getting the gas meter removed in a couple of weeks so...

    Heat pumps and noise

We've had a 12kW ASHP installed. Noise- negligible I would say. My bathroom extractor fan is noisier.

    Expanding foam around perimeter?

You will be fine with expanding foam around perimeter, and then trimming it back. Whether this is more effective than what you have in situ, is possibly debatable. With the ply overboarding you are screwing it down at 150mm centres I'm guessing, so any expansion will be negligible anyway.

Opentherm Weather Comp and Intergas HRE 24 OV

As a non plumber/heating engineer I might have missed the point, but we've just gone from a quite old condensing boiler with a set flow temp/nest thermostat to an ASHP with weather compensation. It has been running all of October and cost us almost exactly the same as last October (taking into...
