Primer, adhesive and grout for coping stones

My Tilers van is full of bags of spacers:- I still used clothes pegs when I done my coping stones !

    New Tiled Bathroom

I’m 100% with ‘ree’ on this one. If the Silicone bead is not performing a function, then I’ll also ask the customer if he wants it or not, and explain the +’s and -‘ I would never ever grout the Sanitary Ware or skirting. Your new bathroom looks neat and tidy without pumping in any unnecessary...

Prepping floor for tiling - options?

My choice would be option 3. You can’t go wrong with 6mm H.B. on the floor. ( I know it’s highly personal, but 1M sq tiles on that floor are way too big )

Stubborn floor tiles - can't remove! Help

I think the last two ‘posters’ haven’t noticed that it’s a concrete floor. You don’t want to be pulling that up !

Emulsion over mould stain on ceiling wallpaper

Great info, thanks. I'll get some Z.B., And some cheap throw-in-the-bin-after-use brushes. Given a lot of reviews mention the smell, it looks like a job for early in the morning :)

Emulsion over mould stain on ceiling wallpaper

Hi guys, looking for a bit of advice on how to paint over a ( dry now) mould stain on the wallpaper of our bedroom ceiling …. We had a leak caused by missing roof slates- now fixed and bone dry. I very stupidly wallpapered over the ( what I thought was dry) ceiling before it had dried out...

Outdoor grouting - avoiding white dust due to rain

They look like porcelain slabs. If you are using a wet grout outside, then I’d advise you to watch a couple of YouTube videos on the basics of grouting - that white haze is indicative of a poor ‘sponge off’ technique. It’s very very hard to get it right on a hot tile - I’d only grout them at...

    Worktop tile trim

The trims won’t seal it :- I’m assuming there’s a sink somewhere in the worktop that will need silicone on the bottom row of tiles behind the taps ? With an 8mm notched trowel ( condensing to 5 or 6mm after you have pressed in) + a 7mm tile, you are only a couple of mm short ( thickness of a...

    Worktop tile trim

Fill out the gap between the wall and the worktop with strips of cardboard from the tile boxes. Pack them tight and your first row of tiles will sit on them no problem. If you’re using big heavy tiles and the gap is worrying in places, then put said cardboard in a thin batch of tile adhesive and...

Re-rendering on old brick gate posts?

If they’re not being used, and are just ‘things to hit’ with your car etc, is it worth just removing them ?

    Stained grout

TBH, if you’ve been puting up with the staining for 19 years without a puting a sealer on, I think it’s probably time for a re-grout.

New custom bath panel and problem floor vinyl gap

Personally, I think it looks very neat and you’ve done a good job. I’d be reluctant to put any kind of strip on it. Just get a new piece of vinyl the right size ?

Homemade weed killer or shop bought

I use glyphosate on the bits of my garden where there are weeds and growth to absorb it. I dissolve a bag of salt in a pan and put that down where there’s nothing to ‘ hit’ e.g. my drive and path, to stop them appearing in the first place. Have to be careful of where it runs off to though, as...

    Swim goggles help

Agree with posts above re ‘Decathlon’. Me and the Mrs both got our sea swimming masks there - these days they’re just oversized goggles; they don’t have the built in noses in them.

    Shower tray

I’ll stick to my 20mm notch and Tile Adhesive. If the floor across the size of a tray is more than 5mm out, i’d be fixing the floor.
