Laying a floor on my own - First time - What type of Plywood is best to lay/Adhesive question?

If its only temporary, if be inclined to lift the carpet, wash the tiles, and just lay a slightly thicker cushioned vinyl straight over the top of it.I Save your pennies for when the tiler comes in, throws the whole lot in the bin then restarts and does it properly.

3 way mitre with quad trim?

You’re obviously not getting it @aobr31569. That kit is for an easy 2 way join. The O.P is trying, and succeeding in making a 3 way join.

What Do I Have Behind My Tiles Here?

Now that I’ve ‘ zoomed in’ on that green tinged layer stuck to the adhesive …… It’s the old top coat of finishing plaster :)

What Do I Have Behind My Tiles Here?

The ' thin board' you refer to is is actually the tile adhesive. It is stuck solid to the tile because the ( very) dry plaster has sucked all the water out of the adhesive when it was tiled. Keep going and strip everything off; the wall looks in very good condition. It's personal choice...

    Front door step

Your step doesn’t look very high, but has to get under that door drip tray - could you not just remove it altogether and slab at ‘ ground level’ ?

Kitchen worktop - inset ceramic wall tile

Yip, I’ve been called before to do that for someone. Better being a porcelain tile than a ceramic tile, and it’ll need epoxy resin ( food grade grout)

Tile backer board, tanking or just apply the tiles to what is there?

Hi Tog. Well, you have a few options. Depending on the answers to the following what I would suggest:- 1. What kind, size, and weight of tiles are you putting on ? 2. When you rotate an 1800 level all over the wall, how flat/ plumb/ dips has wall. 3. Are you taking the bath and sink off the wall ?

3 way mitre with quad trim?

Doing the second cut on each length ( the arrowhead) I lie the trim on its back, and cut from the inside out. ( after I’ve cut off a bit of the ‘fin’)

3 way mitre with quad trim?

That Sharpie will go beside the white one and the black one in your toolbox ? The white for touching up chips in ceramic tiles, and the black inevitably for porcelains! Lol

12.5 tiles high, how to cut.

If you can’t get all your ‘horizontals’ to line up in the right place, then I would go for a grout line through the taps ( sorry aveatry ) as you DO want the wall taps on the edge of a tile, especially if they are porcelain. That way you are ‘notching out’ the ‘holes’ for your taps with either...

3 way mitre with quad trim?

I agree with you 100% Johnny. But the O.P. has still to scratch that itch ! ( you and I have already done it and decided it’s just not worth it ! ) lol

3 way mitre with quad trim?

“You simply cut the first 2 trims at 45⁰, then the 3rd trim straight to butt up to the back of the first.” - But that’s a two way mitre with a butt 3rd leg - it’s not what the O.P. asked for or is trying to do ! A proper 3 way mitre does look good, but it does do your head in doing them ! Lol...

Tile at the edge of shower frame

Assuming the frame has been fitted correctly, there will be a bead of silicone down the inside of the frame where it screws to the wall. You cannot see this, but it’s what waterproofs the joint. Again, if done correctly, there will be another run of silicone on the outside of the frame; the...

    Looking for advice

That's a fairly standard framing job - Brown rawl plugs and 5x80 screws. It's a lot easier with 2 drills; one with a masonry bit in for drilling through, and one with the Pozi 2 bit in for the screwing

12.5 tiles high, how to cut.

Whilst I agree with Stevie888 re ' be aware of what's happening with the bath tile' , I would go with your original idea and keep to a full tile off the floor. It's always better to keep the biggest tiles on the bottom. This also means that if you change your size for the top row when you...

Is revealing a cars service history a security risk.

I changed my car a few months ago, and took 7 years service history/receipts/assorted paperwork in with me to the dealer for handover…….. ‘Thanks, but we’re not allowed to pass it on, it all gets shredded’
