Number of outputs from a FCU

Thanks for replying RF. I have not had the face plate off the FCU so don't know how it is connected. Guessing it is just a straight connection between the fire and the FCU. Just out of interest, what is the maximum number of cables (feeds) that can be taken from one FCU?

Number of outputs from a FCU

Hi Currently we have a fan assisted flu gas fire. There is an FCU about 3 feet away from the fire (for the fan in the fire) next to a double plug socket. I have not looked but guessing it's a spur from the ring main. We are replacing the fire surround and the wife mentioned one which has...

How to remove plaster fire surround - Edit: It's off!

Right, in the end not a very big job. There were no brackets fixing it to the wall, it was fixed using silicone. Hammered an old filling knife down between the surround the wall and it soon came out. Around the edge of the surround got slightly chipped as I pulled the filling knife out. It...

How to remove plaster fire surround - Edit: It's off!

Have had out my metal / stud detector this evening to try and find the brackets. Couldn't find anything. I'm thinking it's been bonded to the wall with no nails or something similar. On closer inspection I don't think it is plaster. Feels like some sort of resin fire surround. I can see...

Hanging small LCD on plaster board wall.

I hung our 19" LCD on our bedroom plasterboard stud wall. Thankfully, in the exact centre of the wall there was a stud, so I just fixed the bracket with 2 coach screws into the wooden stud.

How to remove plaster fire surround - Edit: It's off!

Hi We have a plaster fire surround which we would like to replace with a more modern contempory one. It is not an old house, so preserving original features is not important. Would this be fitted to the wall with the usual screws / wall plugs or would this be fitted with plaster? What...

    New Shower Cubicle

You should really "tank" the walls within the shower enclosure before tiling. Probably better asking over in the tiling section though. I used the Dunlop waterproof kit, available from Screwfix...

air in CH - no visible leaks

Hi, thanks for the reply. Would a dose of leak sealer help if the problem was down to micro leaks. What a professional do to diagnose the problem?

air in CH - no visible leaks

Hi I have a conventional open vented system, hot water cylinder, f&e tank in the loft. Our ensuite towel radiator and another upstairs rad seems to be collecting air. I have to bleed these every couple of weeks. There are no visible signs of any water leaks anywhere. I have tied up the...
