    Deck capping

I recently asked about attaching decking boards on top of bricks as a finish. Thanks Thermo by the way! What I forgot to ask was do you mitre the corners or do you just butt the corners? One reason I ask is because I saw some garden display pictures somewhere and the boards were just butted up...

    Conservatory

The rendering(if you can call it that) was already done when we moved in. I was just showing how bad it is and the fact that because they can't see it, they don't care that we have to see it, and what we can probably expect from the new build. Access would have been ok when it was rendered...

His attempt at rendering. This is about 5 feet in front of me standing outside the back door. Not nice to look at at all!

    Conservatory

My next door neighbour started building last year, what I can only assume is going to be a conservatory. The fences are 6 foot high, and so far the blocks are 3 courses above that. He actually put another course up yesterday, which prompted me to ask the question. Would he have required planning...

    Slabs into lawn

I will be laying turf shortly, but want to incorporate some sort of path through the middle, whether it be slabs or possibly a decking path. Should I do this before laying the turf, or after so I know the correct depths to dig for the path finish? Advice appreciated

    Decking on bricks

Hi, although this is a garden project, I'm not sure if this is in the correct forum but here goes. I have built brick walls planters which are fairly large(but size is irrelevant) and was going to cement capping of some sort to finish them off. Now, I have decking steps on each of the 3...

    White undercoat?

Thanks for your reply. I'd actually undercoated in white before you replied as I thought as much to be honest and I am using a decent gloss although I don't mind applying 2 coats if neccessary. Cheap or expensive I think the colour of gloss you are using is the over riding factor especially a...

    White undercoat?

I will be painting a door a gloss colour called Cashmere dream(if that means anything to you) which I can only describe as a milky coffee colour, bordering a darker beige. I have coated the door with 2 coats of white primer undercoat as it was bear wood and was wondering if you think I should...

    Matt Over Gloss

I paint glossed ceilings with white matt all the time and have never had any problems. Two coats will do the job fine. Some people's advice unneccessarily complicates the problem I think and just confuses people like yourself who just want a simple answer.

    Slpoe for guttering

I have a 4.8 Meter length of guttering to install and was wondering how much of a slope in inches I need along the entire length. Can anyone offer any help please. I'm thinking probably no more than 1 inch looking at neighbours' guttering, but would rather have advice from someone who knows what...

    WHAT SLOPE FOR GUTTERING?

Can anyone help? I am installing two lengs of guttering, one is 3.2M long and the other is 4.8M long. What kind of slope do I need over each length for water to flow towards the outlet? Grateful for any advice.

Any prep needed for painting colour over different colour?

Just give it two coats of your final colour, that'll be better, because although you may not think so, a dark colour like purple may not cover the white in one, especially on your cutting in.
