Slabs into lawn

I will be laying turf shortly, but want to incorporate some sort of path through the middle, whether it be slabs or possibly a decking path.
Should I do this before laying the turf, or after so I know the correct depths to dig for the path finish?

if youre bedding teh salbs on mortar then lay them first. if youre just going to lay them on the soil, then its easier to lay the lawn first and then put the slabs down and cut around the turf.
