    Halford’s wiper blade query…

Hi Hoping someone can save me an embarrassing return trip to Halfords. Bought single rear wiper for wife’s 2015 Polo. Used her reg to order part W301. Told er indoors wouldn’t need to pay for fitting, easy blah blah. Removed old blade easily. However, replacement has three parts as shown...

    Screw extraction

Sorry-realise my previous response needs explaining. Replacing bolt and bolt keep. Ergo, need to remove latter. Thanks a bunch.

    Screw extraction

No need to keep bolt keep. Update-can’t “prise” screws or bolt keep off (or move screw heads away from bolt) with flat blades screwdriver. Also unable to get vice grips around screw heads. Will have to invoke left handed drill option. Watch this space. Thanks

    Screw extraction

Thanks for further responses. I’m out at the moment, but pretty certain the heads are too flush to use mole grips. (Will try) The other issue is the screws are fitted very close to the frame. Think it will probably have to be reverse drill bit malarkey.

    Screw extraction

Hi See section of internal door bolt. The heads have been destroyed over the years. I’m replacing doir fittings so want to remove this. At the moment there’s not enough exposed to twist with pliers. I think I need to drill into screw (anti clockwise) and then remove with one of those screw...

    Hilling potatoes

Hi All See attached image of spuds. I tried to “hill” for a second time a few weeks ago. Quite a few flowers there, but know that’s not a reliable indicator of time to harvest. Also managed to break (not entirely) a few stalks while hilling. The leaves and stalks are still pretty green, so...

    Honeywell BK-G4M gas meter

Thanks, I wasn’t sure there was an email for this sort of thing. It does me you laugh though. A perfect storm of new meter and reading coinciding, and the glitch will never be sorted.

    Honeywell BK-G4M gas meter

Update You couldn’t make this up. I previously rang BG to explain I’d entered 37293, instead of 37. (New meter, not sure how to read it etc) Lady I spoke to checked and said everything looked good at her end. Fast forward to today, when had request for another meter reading. App confirmed...

    Weeding tool

Thanks for all the v helpful replies. Forgot to mention I drenched the joints with Weedol. Only thing is I think it may be the glyphosate free variety.

    Weeding tool

Thanks. Looks like that product is out of stock at B&Q. Thanks. I did initially but will have another ponder. Re screwdriver - been there, done that. Dodgy back now, so need to avoid being down on hands and knees. I managed to get rid of prominent ones with my useless strimmer. It’s mainly...

    Weeding tool

Hi Our patio needs weed removal and some more mortar for the joints. The first step is removal of soil and weed from gaps. I initially bought one of those weed slicers, but I can now see they’re for weeds in a bed. (Angled head) Any ideas? Ideally needs to go down a few inches. Thanks

    Hilling potatoes

Morning This is my first stab at growing spuds. (Late ones) I know the conventional wisdom is When the plants are 8-12 inches tall they should be hilled to keep tubers covered and prevent greening. Mound the soil to a height of 3 to 6 inches and approximately 12 to 15 inches from the base of...
