    Upvc exterior door closer

The Screwfix door closers are all fire rated so I guess fire rating is a free feature. There are cheaper door closers on Aliexpress but I would rather get a Screwfix one.

    Upvc exterior door closer

Both exterior doors are basic double glazed white upvc so very likely not fire rated. But shouldn't I get a fire rated door closer?

Replace window upper glass unit with plastic

I'm lowering the ceiling in the ground kitchen from 2.7m to 2.4m and insulating the gap above by using a 38mm x 68mm CLS timber frame. Usually I would screw this frame into the brick wall using masonry screws but there is a high window that comes up to 2.6m. The window has 2 units 1 lower...

Replace shed roof with one with massive overhang

My shed has a standard 15 to 12 degree incline and I put onduline sheeting over it. The roof needs to have a much larger overhang so that horizontal rain, of which there is a lot of, does not drive into the shed. And a larger overhang gives me a bigger roof area for solar panels etc. So I...

    Thick paint over uneven walls

No that's far too much labour and there are electrical cables hidden in the partition walls a lot of which are not midway in the cavity (pressed against the inside of the plasterboard) chances of getting the plasterboard off without damaging cables are low.

    Thick paint over uneven walls

I am insulating not straight (walls are 5 degrees out) partition walls by cutting out 5cm wide rectangles, shoving mineral wool into the cavity then screwing the plaster chunk back over wooden backing. Then I use plaster filler to cover any holes, sand flat then paint. Problem is I can still see...

Trunking cover over exposed bathroom light switch cable

A small bathroom has a small section of exposed 1.5mm2 electric cable running from a wall to the lightswitch (pic attached). I need to conceal this cable either by pushing it back into the plasterboard or fitting surface trunking over it and making a waterproof seal such that no moisture can...

    Accidental nick to socket cable

Do mice/rats eat through electrical tape and waterproofing tape? I saw some partially chewed cables (in a different property years ago) due to rat damage

    Accidental nick to socket cable

Well the property has enough problems without adding risk of electric fires to it. The other cable had a fraction of of a mm shaved off about 1cm2 of the sheath on 1 side (didn't even go through the outer sheath) which is actually really hard to see except without being right up close. I...
