Fixing bodge job in paving for shed

Sorry, I didn't mention that the centre bit of the patio is not flat at all, it's got some big undulations that go higher and lower than the surrounding slabs by up to 10mm! And from what I understand - sheds need to have a decent flat base in order to go up properly.

Fixing bodge job in paving for shed

I've got a new shed on order, arriving in 4 weeks and being assembled by the supplier. I finally pulled down the old shed today, which is sat on a pretty basic patio of large slabs pushed pretty much right up to each other, but sometimes with a small 1-2mm gap. Removing the old shed revealed...

Purposly leaving air in CH system - rad in attic?

I knew it couldn't be that easy! I was hoping to avoid more work. I think I'll just fill the system as normal and get some pipe insulation for the exposed bits of pipe in the attic. Cheers.

Purposly leaving air in CH system - rad in attic?

The previous owners thought it would be a good idea to put a radiator in the attic of our house, which we have now insulated meaning the attic will get much colder in the winter. I always keep both valves on this radiator turned off so as not to waste heat in the attic! So this means the water...

Protecting wooden fence posts from rot where underground

Thanks JohnD, How exactly did you bolt the wooden post to the concrete spur? How far out of the ground did the spur sit? Will I need to buy a power tool to cut up concrete posts to the appropriate length? Thanks

Protecting wooden fence posts from rot where underground

I need to repair 2 out of the 5 wooden fence posts on my 3ft high front boundary fence with the neighbour. The 2 posts had rotted away at the base. The posts are inserted into holes in a concrete drive, but under the concrete there is wet earth. 3 of the other posts seem to be fine. I know...

Sorting previous owner's plasterwork after fireplace removal

No idea why I'm posting an update almost a year after the event, but I did it myself, and it doesn't look terrible! Got a new length of skirting to match as well. Thanks for the advice.

Need a tubular latch with a really short backset

In my house, one door frame is so narrow the sides of the door have been cut down so much, that there is only about 50mm to play with to fit the handles and latches. I'd already bought a set of handles with a tubular latch with a 60mm backset which I then realised was too long. I can't...

Almost got french doors perfect - final tweak needed

Hello, I've just hung a pair of internal french doors in my new stud wall with a bit of tweaking and swearing, and they are almost perfect. I am using three small 76x76mm projection hinges on each door so that they can swing 180 degrees and clear the architrave and skirting. Only problem...
