Is this an AAV or cap end?

I think it was too low, definately lower than the basin waste and not much higher than the water level in the toilet.

Joist size for loft storage room?

I’ve ordered the 6x2 to come on Wednesday. She doesn’t have anything to store up there yet with her being a first time buyer but no doubt, with being a woman, she will soon have a mountain of crap up there  I was also thinking should I screw or bolt to the rafters? The small stuff there...

Installing new Rockdoor and side panels

I’ve done one. No.1 - I screwed it as you said but didn’t use silicone, reason being I thought any water that got past the trim would drain out onto the cill. No.2 - I had a few baypole screws fail when going through 2 lots of metal. I just binned the failed one and the next attempt with a...

Joist size for loft storage room?

In my head I would replace the 3x1 hangers with something bigger like this picture (random add that popped up on my phone): The roof in her house actually has 2 sets of purlins.

    Channel drain stone path

Joist size for loft storage room?

Thanks :) I’ll go with the 6x2, would you also use 6x2 for the noggins or could you use 4x2 so cables can thread along easier? The old ceiling was in poor condition so we dropped the lath and plaster.

Joist size for loft storage room?

My daughters house has 85 year old saggy 2.75x 1.75 ceiling joists in the bedrooms. We want to lower it and also put a platform (4 sheets of 18mm ply) up there for storage, there’s no intention for it ever to become a habitable room. On one side the span is 4.0mtrs, on the other it’s 3.0mtrs...

    Possible leaking drain

If it were drain water it would be grey or black and sticky/smelly. You could dye test your drains to check for leaking.

Could have been put there to take the sink waste from your downstairs toilet. You can pull a camera up a junction with a piece of thin rope.

    Inspection chamber adapter?

That’s definitely not common at any time, it’s almost like the second half of an old tippler. I think you will struggle to get the adaptor but could still have the pipe go in there and make a deal with something else.
