Covid cases Hospital Admissions & Deaths Rising - Should Masks Return?

Maybe in the past but 50% of the air in a modern aircraft is drawn in from outside - the other 50% is filtered and recycled. https://www.boeing.com/confident-travel/faq.html The proximity of 200 people on a plane will allow virus’ to spread, not necessarily the air quality.

    1.8m wide fence panels

Can you cut 15mm off an end? Buying a saw is going to be cheaper than a special order panel.

    Bath Wastes With Overflows

Can you do as Mad says, but stick the corrugated overflow pipe onto the waste ,stuff the top with silicone & tape it to the side of the bath That way the end will usually be above the water level.

    Thames Water woes

Well I know they’re not the only Water Company who have a waiting list of months to sort out external stop-cocks in non-emergency situations - it’s the same here with South East Water.

Eaves tray install - tile push back or remove

If you place trays on top of the felt, the rain will run under them and down the back of your gutters.

    poor paying customers

I’ll happily take payment on completion if offered, but otherwise will raise an invoice and ask for payment in 7 days. That gives the Customer a chance to make sure they’re happy with what I’ve done, and so once I’ve been paid I can forget about it. Late payers are a pet hate. I might give a...

Another screed calculation... for 26m2... doh

Not sure about that calculator - it makes it a total of 1.95 m2, but then says you’ll need 0.49m2 of cement and 1.95m2 of sand. That’s a 20% contingency.

Another screed calculation... for 26m2... doh

    Isn’t that 3:1? 4:1 would be 1.6 and 0.4?

self emloyed 80% payment but still working??

I got the impression that the grant was just going to be a freebie handout - no means testing or mechanism to claw it back. So if there was no drop off in your business, you could potentially earn the same and get a 3 month government bonus. It is taxable, so will have to be declared as...

Valve insert required for Hafele basin faucet

The inserts from Screwfix come in three lengths - 8, 9 & 10.5mm so you might get away with the longest ones. And they're not that expensive if they turn out to be wrong. In the past it seemed to be that every manufacturer had different splines, but the Screwfix ones have fitted everything that...

    Petrol Lawnmower

I had heard the same thing about Honda mowers - they were the thing to have and wouldn't let you down. I bought the 18" version from the site you've linked to, and have been a little disappointed. It went back for repair after 2 cuts as it started hunting (allegedly due to dirty fuel - despite...

Scaffold fittings - how tight should they be?

Probably. Whitworth and BSF spanners are marked for the thread size. Imperial and metric are 'across flats' of the nut.

    Robbing Barstewards

Chippy, It'd be worth sticking a bit more into your tax pot after every job. Income Tax is only 20% - but there's National Insurance (8%?) to pay as well. And as someone else has said with a £10k tax bill you must be pretty close to the 40% Income Tax rate. So it's more a case of saving...

How can I remove this radiator permanently? Flexi pipes??

You're right, I have got it mixed up. Apologies. Oldbuffer clarified it much better than I in post 4.

How can I remove this radiator permanently? Flexi pipes??

I think OB was trying to say the following, 3ai....Compression cap ends do indeed use olives, but the inserts you would use with plastic pipe have o rings 3bi.....Yes, but you'd use inserts without o rings with push fit fittings.

How to remove this shower screen ?!

I can't really remember, which is why it is worth having a look at it, downwards from the top. I think if you can give it some force towards the opposite end of the bath, the 'nose' will unclip.

How to remove this shower screen ?!

It's photo 2 on the inside. That piece of aluminium is a cover which clips in place. It can be a bit fiddly. If you look down from the top (after taking the trim piece off if it's there) you'll see how they fit together.

    Pump position, is this mad?

Salamander have a few pumps with '50' in the name, and one of them can be used when there's less than 600mm between pump and tank. More details on their website.

    Tightening kitchen mixer tap

As Old & Rules say, it's a 'simplefit' tap. You tighten the clamp from the top, once you've taken the tap body off.

    Noisey WB 19/24 cbi

I think I've asked previously for help on this issue, and with kettling having been mention I've run some cleaner and silencer through the system, but am still struggling. I have a Worcester Bosch 19/24 cbi. About 10 minutes after coming on it starts makes a banging noise - sometimes quite...
