    British Gas - Boiler Deals

I know there will be a warranty on the boiler for the first year but Im sure it wouldn`t cover 24hr call out would it? Im not surprised that there will be many that have not received good service from BG but I have always found them reliable. Its the same though with any major organisation...

    British Gas - Boiler Deals

I am considering changing my current boiler, an Ideal Classic NF40, which is over 15yrs old and getting British Gas to quote for a new one. As a Homecare 200 member there are savings offered but I wondered what opinions the forum has on getting BG to do the install? Also, am I likely...

Adding Security Light To Existing Wiring

Got round to fitting extra security light and the junction box / wiring. Now await darkness to see if garden and side gate will shine in 150w light or whether my house will ignite in one big explosion!!

Adding Security Light To Existing Wiring

Thanks - just seen some. The purpose of the glands? Is it to stop water getting into the junction box? Presumably I take the wire from the mains supply into the junction box then feed the two security lights from the junction box?

Adding Security Light To Existing Wiring

Thanks for your reply. Any chance you could post some links to the weatherproof junction box and glands that I would need to buy?

Adding Security Light To Existing Wiring

Hi, I have a PIR activated security light in my garden and I want to add another to cover the side of my house. The easiest way, in my mind, to power the new light is to run a wire from the existing security light to the new one. Before doing so I wondered if someone could advise...

    Power Flushing - Novice Level

Thanks for the replies. My intention was to do my own system but I did wonder whether a demand exists for just a power flushing service. Im meticulous in whatever I do and wouldn`t want to take on something which I could end up destroying or not properly resolving.

    Power Flushing - Novice Level

I've been reading some of the threads on power flushing and wondered if this is something I, as a non plumber and without plumbing experience, could do. I am looking at the machines available such as the Kamco and would like to know if it a straight forward task to carry out. What...

Fitting A Kitchen - How Easy?

Thanks for your reply. I was surprised with your comment re the plumbing, I was thinking that the plumbing would be the hardest, although I had in mind getting plumbing, electrics and tiling done by someone else. Its just a question of how difficult the units are to install but if the...

    Wall Paper Query

Thanks for your reply Third Eye. It was a hot day and although the paper was not being put over other material except paint, the wall probably wasn`t in prime condition. I didn`t realise that there could be so many conditions that would cause the gaps I have seen! See what you mean about...

Fitting A Kitchen - How Easy?

I have a very small kitchen and have been looking to change it for the past couple of years. Despite seeing all these wonderful offers of "All This For Just £2,000" every quote i've had is not much less than £7k. It seems they quote low prices on the cabinets and then sting you on...

    Wall Paper Query

Ive just had a decorator paper a wall. When he finished my wife said that the wall looked perfect yet by the time I got home I found that the paper has a gap between some of the segments. Can the paper shrink in width to cause this? It isn`t a cheap paper and I don`t understand how these...

    Dimmers With Spots

Breezer, Ive found some spots that are 240v Halogen - would these be dimmer compatible?

OK, I`ll check to see if the transformer can be dimmed. Thanks for taking the time to answer my queries.

    Dimmers With Spots

Thanks Breezer, A lot of these products never really specify what they can and can not be used with! What would be the consequence if I used it on a set of lights that were not dimmer compatible? I think I saw one of your replies on dimmers that said they can generally handle up to 300w...

    Dimmers With Spots

Im looking to replace my normal ceiling light with spotlights and I want to change the light switch to a dimmer. The spots I have been looking at have ranged from 4 x 20w upto 5 x 50w with the transformer included. Is it acceptable to use either of these with a dimmer? Thanks for any help.
