UPVC Cylinder lock refuses to come out

Ok mistery solved the cylinder had a little grub screw that wouldn’t let it out. I had to remove the two hex screws to remove the Sbd plate as it would not otherwise remove it either from the front or from the back.

Mcalpine 40mm traps, what type of Pipe Solvent Weld or Push Fit

I'm having a new kitchen install and use 40mm a Mcalpine trap with a small 40mm pipe run ending in a compression elbow going to the waste pipe. Do you use solvent weld or push fit pipe that connects to the compression part of the trap? It probably doesn't matter but what would you do?

Copper pipe stamping and push fit

I’m wondering if there are any problems with using push fit fittings and copper pipe that has been stamped as in photo. Could these engravings on the copper pipe allow tiny amount of water to pass through? I might be getting paranoid but they did not use to stamp the pipes. I bought this from...

Big bang noise and pipe moving!

May I ask, what do you guys recommend, I am between a few options to stop the noise. 1. Insert a pressure control regulator valve to reduce pressure and if that does not work, 2. Install a small expansion vessel...

Do I need a wooden batten underneath fascia

The wooden board behind my gutters in the garage is rotten. Do I need to replace this before I attach a UPVC board in front behind the gutters or can I do what next door have done( second photo ) stick a flat 16mm fascia board straight into the wall which attaches to a batten that is inside...

Big bang noise and pipe moving!

Very strange. I fitted these before in another rental without any issues. I used the Hep2o collars that are not flat as the John guest but it is a hep2O valve so I never really mix. Bizzare. I might change the valve to a Pegler one compression type and see if that’s any better.

Big bang noise and pipe moving!

I just fitted a secondary easy shut off valve on the water straight after the mains stop cock. Now when the toilet sink tap is turned off there is a big noise and the pipe is moving inside the Hep2o valve. Is this normal as I have never experienced this. All the pipes are clipped ok and the...

    Reroof or Repair

I need the dry verge re-installed and the ridges replaced/repointing. ( The dry verge has been screwed to the mortar so some of them have started flying off! ) All tiles are intact and the ridges are there but there are missing mortar chunks from it. This is for a small bungalow. I have been...

    Mitre joint lifting.

Ok I see usually I add extra support with brackets underneath but these are houses I buy that someone else has done the work! With the metal bars I usually silicone underneath the bar before fitting it so there is no way water will find its way in. I’m installing a new Wren kitchen at the...

    Mitre joint lifting.

Almost in all of my rentals the worktop joints lift after 5-6 years. Is that down to poor installation or they just do. Now for future reference when we need a new worktop would you recommend the bar joint instead of the mitre joint. I don’t mind the cosmetics or visual. I just want a reliable...

    Drain grid too high

I got no idea why he used a black pipe. He showed me the grid was broken so it had to be changed. He added an Aco drain on the side of the garden as the soil is like clay underneath the grass so it wouldn’t drain the water properly so he removed the grass and we flag it with Indian stone...

    Drain grid too high

My land scape gardener installed a new drain grid about a flag higher than the previous one was. Would that be a problem if he creates a small fall for water to drive to the garden and raise the flags a bit. I attach photos of before and after.

    Add another drain ?

I’m replacing the grass in the garden with Indian stone and I added an Aco drain on the side of the garden that leads to the water waste. Would you recommend to add another drain on the side on the highlighted area? The Indian stone is on step higher than the front flags.
