Vehicles reporting data back to base

Hi M, The car does have this system, and I'm not sure it will work, considering that I have not connected. Perhaps the emergency system will over ride my settings? C

    Dealer or private?

Hi, I bought one from a dealer, that had the same model and colour that I want. It was sent to the dealer from Toyota, but as there was no interest, they sold it £3K cheaper. It was registered, taxed and insured on the day I picked it up, all good. C

Is it legal to remove the bulkhead from a van?

Hi, The reason I wanted to remove the bulkhead was so I could get a sleepover mattress in the rear. I like squareness, but a mate of mine suggested trying the mattress diagonally, and it just long enough now so no need to remove the bulkhead, just put a head banging foam headboard. Thanks for...

Hi, Let's stay as friendly as we can  As mentioned here, I on startup, I get asked whether I want to share my location with base: https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/vehicles-reporting-data-back-to-base.630560/post-5833796 C.

Vehicles reporting data back to base

Hi A, Yes, here: https://www.theengineer.co.uk/content/news/radio-beam-device-can-disable-car-and-boat-engines-from-50m/ I thought it was more specific than a general jamming device, and it's got to be serious for them ever to use it. C.

Vehicles reporting data back to base

Hi A, As I said I doubt that they would use it as it would cause an outcry, but I just had a quick look up and found this, which looks similar to what I heard. I think it jams the vehicle, a bit like 'switch off phones' when flying. C

Hi C, It's bolted and riveted. As mentioned it's a car with no rear seats and a flat base with bulkhead. Here's a link to it: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/toyota/corolla/commercial C

Is it legal to remove the bulkhead from a van?

Hi, I've just bought a car derived van, which is a car taken from the production line and instead of rear seats, has a full floor, up to the front seat, with a bulkhead. What I want to know, is it legal to remove it? I'm thinking of the safety reasons for having one, to stop e,g, parcels in the...

Vehicles reporting data back to base

Hi A, I think you'll find that they can, and earlier, I said that once they do there will be quite an uprest. Of course I realise what you are saying, but if I go out to country lanes, and find a footpath, I feel free if I'm 'lost'. I know I can switch my phone on and 'they' can check where I...

Vehicles reporting data back to base

Hi A, New. As mentioned previously, I know they all have SIM cards, and if wanted the police can stop a vehicle. It will be interesting once they start using this, as I think it would wake many up! In a way I don't mind them monitoring data for use in improving etc, as the bee in my bonet is...

Vehicles reporting data back to base

Hi, Well! I bought a car, after kind of accepting the inevitable, to find that the connections had not been set up, so the car is 'clean' When I switch on (hybrid) a screen pops up asking if I want to notify the manufacturer of such things as location, I click NO, and the car runs. It will...

Gas usage with Housewarmer economy 44 boiler

Hi, My son took those photos, so today I'm starting to check again. With only the pilot light, I've read the meter, and I'll check again later, then I'll stop the pilot light and leave it for a day. C

Gas usage with Housewarmer economy 44 boiler

Hi, I have a Housewarmer economy 44 back boiler 1986. It keeps heating the house and water, so I leave well alone. I was away for a few weeks, so switched it off, but it has a pilot light. My son read the meter for a week, and the gas consumption was 3 cubic meters. This seems far to much...
