Ring final spurred off from a JB to each socket

I've worked with many mid-century installations over the decades. Admittedly only a scant handful of 1940s wired properties, with lead-sheathed cable, fitted with clamps round the sheath and metal junction boxes, also with clamps. Then 1950s installations, with rubber and more junction boxes...

    Glow Plug light illuminated.

It was only after 2004 I believe, that lights on the dash became an MoT failure.

    Going EV

We have ordered our next EV, a Kia EV3. Our existing one, an MG4 is doing cracking service at 35K with no issues. It had its first MoT with no problems and it's now had its 3rd service, again no issues. So far, it's had one pair of tyres on the rear (it's RWD) but the fronts have got plenty...

What have you been doing today?

Nooo! I went back to a house where I did a maintenance job and noticed RP on the lighting circuit that I'd worked on a few days prior. Did a Zs at a socket, that was RP too. Looked at the meter, I saw it was a new swap. I checked polarity on the consumer's side of the isolation switch. That...

    Low Potassium

Thanks. Yes, I remember that Mg is crucial. If this low K persists, I will ask the Quack about testing for Mg levels. I obviously have been drinking a lot. Urology told me to drink a minimum of 2 litres a day but to increase It when It is hot weather. Basically, the consultant told me, the aim...

    Low Potassium

I have had low potassium for the last several weeks. Apparently it can happen when it's very hot. It happened last year, but rectified itself next time my bloods were taken. I had eaten stuff with a high level of K in; brazils, yogurt etc... Picked up by my annual blood test again this year...

    Wildfire alert

I have had a total of 12 alerts... Shopping in Aldi and the first 6 came in in quick succession. I have deaf bugger settings in my phone, so each alert started by buzzing loudly, followed by a kind of klaxon noise. Then the written message appeared, followed by a loud voice message. A bit...

    Binface put up a fight….

I'm sorry, I thought I had. Have a look at Reform's policies. There are clickies labelled as "full" policies, but when you click on them, they are anything but. Everybody laughs about Labour having xx years to think about what they're going to do when they got into power. How long has Farage...

    Binface put up a fight….

Now, I would be more impressed if you replaced those four letters with a series of coherent words explaining why Farage isn't any of those things. The fact you didn't (or can't) and instead replied as you did, speaks volumes.

    Binface put up a fight….

I think we all need to be afraid of a man with ideas like his. Tax cuts favouring the wealthy, leaving the welfare system weaker. Damaging the NHS. Scrapping or weakening net zero. Claiming to know how to solve the small boats problem when he caused it!

    Binface put up a fight….

But they were nowhere to be seen or heard when the results were announced. You'd think (despite the fact that the man himself failed to show), that his ecstatic supporters would, wouldn't you? No such luck. It was hardly a massive turn out either. Just a little over 44%.

    Interesting Regulation of Yesteryear

Still have one of those somewhere that I used to use to power a drill. In the days before battery drills were popular (and affordable), I would plug a drill into a ceiling rose when all the sockets were off.
