    ****ty life

No need to go to South Africa to see that, it happened plenty in UK. But thinking about it, the elements and compounds in asbestos, silicates, calcium, magnesium etc aren't inherently harmful, so presumably it's the fibrous nature that's the problem. The asbestos dust coming off brake parts must...

    New Boiler issues..

Agreed, a lot more thought should have gone into how best to incorporate a new boiler/pump.

    Loyalty Cards

My beef with Tesco is they rarely send straight money vouchers, but £2 or £3 off if you spend more than £20 or £30 on eligible purchases. I can't remember the last time I spent more the £20 there.

    Microsoft subscription

That's what I did, new desktop just over 2 years ago. I don't know whether I paid extra for the Microsoft suite, but I don't pay any annual fee. Google Sheets and Docs for free are very similar. I noticed XL does not have a COSEC function, but Sheets does (CSC). Not that it's a problem, use...

    Is it just me

That's the equivalent, but the definition of (UK) horsepower is 550 ft.lb/s or 33000 ft.lb/min. I believe there are (or were) other slightly different versions used on the continent.

    Fibreglass insulation

Is that Build Back Better? As I said, I'd have checked them out in more detail if I'd been thinking of giving them an order."

    Fibreglass insulation

Thanks, that's clear Agreed, might be worth adding more (fibreglass or mineral) on top, but can't see why you'd remove what's there. The guy made it sound like it, but he would, wouldn't he? I'd have checked them out in more detail if I'd been thinking of giving them an order.

    Is it just me

It's simpler now with SI units. Power, watt = 2*pi*n*T/60, n in rpm, T in N*m. If you're more scientifically inclined and use rads/s, Ω for rotational speed, power is just Ω*T

    Fibreglass insulation

Do you mean fibreglass hasn't been banned? If that's the case it was a lie, but I don't think I've bottomed it yet. The stuff in the B&Q pic looks like fibreglass, but it might not be, and it doesn't say. Incidentally, I installed fibreglass in about 1982 in a previous house. It was horrible...

    Mixer tap cartridge really tight

Restrain the tap body, to avoid putting force on the SS sink. Eg a Stillson, wrapped in cloth to avoid damaging the chrome.

    Fibreglass insulation

I looked on Wickes and B&Q websites. They don't use the word fibreglass, most of the stuff looks like mineral wool, but they don't say fibreglass is no longer allowed. I'd have thought they'd say so if that were the case. And this pic is from B&Q - it looks a lot like fibreglass to me!

    Fibreglass insulation

No, I had a phone call first, and it seems a reputable outfit called Coastal Prime. But they might be trying it on a touch

    Fibreglass insulation

I have fibreglass insulation in my loft, the sort that comes on a roll, put it in a few years ago to supplement what was already there. I recently had a guy round who wanted to quote for upgrading, and he claimed that fibreglass is no longer allowed, as bits can break off and cause respiratory...

Shots Fired Near Donny. Missed Again

I haven't read all this thread, but I expect the security guys have been told to put in some time at the shooting range. Lucky they didn't manage to hit somebody else.
