Failing putty (new shed window) (Ed.)

I have used wet wood rot (now set solid) and painted over it. Splicing in wood (using a multitool) I can do, but is a bit too risky with glass right near the edge.

Failing putty (new shed window) (Ed.)

Ok, removing the battern that is supposed to protect the window from slipping has revealed rot to an extent that just shouldn't happen. I'll Ronseal wet wood rot, paint over it with weathwrshield and replace battern a bit lower that the factory level.

Failing putty (new shed window) (Ed.)

The shed was erected in 2019. Yes, there is clutter as work in progress and it's not used for potting. 3 bikes and general tools and dry logs in Winter.

Failing putty (new shed window) (Ed.)

Well, after painting over the wood filler the bubbling is getting worse. Also rot has started on another area which I have treated with ronseal wet rot. So rather than filling, perhaps just paint straight over with the green weather"shield" and nail a wooden batten over it to again be painted...

    Trying to paint "roughcast"

Well it's just impossible to paint, however many coats you give.

    Trying to paint "roughcast"

I am not a pro painter but helping out someone who wants to get a quick sale on a house. My wife and I have taken on the job but it very soon became apparent that simply applying Santex Masonry paint with a thick roller or brush was like painting layers of popcorn. It's horrible stuff to...

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

Yes, when I took the back panel off the freezer. It seems to be running normal again now, around 2-4 degrees. Phew! Just ordered 2 decent fridge freezer thermometers. The other is going in the bin. Thanks for all your suggestions and help.

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

Well this is just so frustrating because after the relief of finding out the thermometer was way off, we buy food after switching back on after the defrost (which found zero ice incidentally) as it was in the 1-2 degree range. Now it seems to still jump about between 2 - 7 degrees just over...

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

Interesting development. A rookie error but looks like our plastic thermometer isn't as accurate as thought this temp is of course after turning it off and defrosting.

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

The fan is in the panel I just removed. I unplugged one of the clip cables but can't get the other off so supporting panel with cushion for now to stop it straining the wire. It has only been turned off an hour so there must have been no ice, just frost. Using hairdryer to dry it all out.

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

Ok, I have tske the panel off and can see so e of the fins look slighly bent. Can't be me as was careful. There is NO ice on the fins, just a little dripping water. Should I assume there is no ice I can't see deeper in the workings?

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

Well after a week of it averaging around 5-7 degrees it is now back up to 12. Why would it get worse ?

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

I did feel in the drip tray at the back on the last defrost but it was dry. What baffles me is how it can reach 5 degrees and swing up to 8 Getting down to 5 surely suggests ice has cleared.

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

There wasn't any dripping at all in the whole defrost. Tonight I have had temp swings between 3 and 10 degrees with the door hardly opened. If it can get as low as 3 this surely proves ice has gone ?

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

What I can't understand is all evening it was reading 5 degrees and this morning first thing after hours unopened it was back to 8. How can it rise in temp when totally sealed ?

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

No because I am afraid I might damage the inside if ice is welded to the panel.

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

This is just so frustrating after just over a week thinking it had settled around 5 degrees (which I found it this morning on first opening) to now be at 8-10 again (even after turning the dial to slightly colder) I really am exasperated with it!

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

Yes I think you are correct but I genuinely thought an overnight defrost + fan would have done it. That said it is now getting down to as low as 3 degrees (not the group) after it was 8 first thing in the morning. I have since found out that the cold dial should be halfway but i've always had it...

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

Its been mostly getting down to 5 or 6 and at highest 10 but it seems to be settling day by day. Technically it's cold enough for food but at the moment don't feel confident in re-stocking. It's a horrible limbo

BoschSeries 2 fridge door left open - no longer gets cold enough

Starting to lose the will to live now as this issue is robbing us of days with no conclusion. I got to 5 degrees for some time on fully cold on the dial (to be honest, in the 2 years of owning it I have always had it set about 3/4 fully cold) and turned it down to about 3/4 and it still stayed...
