Yes it does indeed. By the time the system has been fully heated through and up to temp it quietens right down.

Sealed system , all bled. Fernox inhibitor inside. A recent drain down revealed water practically as clean as tap water coming out and a very clean magnetic filter.

The TRV's are Drayton RT313 so multi directional.

It's a about 20 years old that radiator but the valve is only a few years old. So I take it this is something we have to live with until we change the rad?

Any ideas why my systems first radiator LSV creates this noise when it's opened between 1/8 & 1/2 of a turn? I need to have it turned down this low to prevent it taking all the flow from the rest of the system but it starts making this noise. More than half a turn open and it stops.

In answer to these: No not really, it still Short cycles roughly the same amount with the boiler stat on maximum. Yes, I have several sets of clamp on thermometers and hand held PT100 contact probes which confirm the flow and return temps.

If the heating is on at the same time, no it doesn't short cycle at all, and the cylinder stat will still be satisfied but it does take a little longer to get there than solely hot water. Around 1 hour to 1 hour 15 depending on how cold the cylinder is to start with

Sounds about right to be honest and confirms kind of what I was starting to think. I bet the coil in that old cylinder is only 5 or 6kw on a 24 kw boiler.

Not really classed as a hard water area but the cylinder is pushing 40. The whole reheat process only takes about 45 minutes from cold, it's just that last 15 minutes or so where it does this.
