They are £30 in Wickes etc but ive seen them online for £10. So does anyone know a good place to buy them and is...

Hiring a carpenter for a roof

Hello. I'm a bit naive about woodwork things, so bear with me. I'm really struggling to get a roofer to even quote for a job. The ones I've spoken to do the tile and batten bit and get a carpenter in to cut the roof. But don't even turn up to give a price. So I'm thinking about going straight to...

Applying for planning again after you already got permission!

Thanks, when you say sell immediately do you mean less than 12 months? Also would the difference in the appearance from the front not cause a problem?

Applying for planning again after you already got permission!

So do you think id have a chance of getting this amended to a flat roof as opposed to a whole new application?

Applying for planning again after you already got permission!

I would hopefully build the same size extension. The bit thats different would be the roof at the back that would be flat but not be visible from the road as the front half of roof would be blocking the view. Thats why I was wondering if planning would take issue.

Applying for planning again after you already got permission!

And they could sign that off? Thats interesting. Thanks. Mind you i'm not sure flat roof at the back is that much cheaper than a hipped or gable one? Edit Oh I just realised you dont mean it will be signed off.

Applying for planning again after you already got permission!

Thanks for your reply. In that case do you know if a change from a 2 storey side extension with a double gable roof (giving an M shape from the side) that was changed to just the front half with a gable and a flat roof behind that cant really be seen from the road would have a chance?

Applying for planning again after you already got permission!

Just wonder if anyone knows how someone who has planning permission for an extension then has to build it smaller possibly even loose the first floor goes about it. Is it a case of starting again with the planning? or is there some kind of amendment you can apply for? Also any ideas if the...

    Installing steel beams advice

You might be right. I have done a few beams before though. And I'd like to think I can use a torque wrench.

    Installing steel beams advice

In that case I think pushing the steel up with acros first and laying the padstone next then if necessary pushing a slate into the bed under the padstone would work well. I've had 2 quotes from steel suppliers now. One mentions primer but not the bolts One is including bolts but no mention of...

    Installing steel beams advice

Just wondered if anyone might have some experience putting steels in. Here are a few things I'm not sure about Is there a good/correct size of gap to leave between the top of the pad stone and the bottom of the beam to allow for the steel to be fitted in but also not so big that any tile or...
