    Backfilling around compression fittings?

Best torch imo. But as long as the joint has flowed and taken and then cleaned up... All is good and the tools used matter not.

    Backfilling around compression fittings?

Did I make a good or bad call buying this torch? I did some research and based upon budget and requirements I felt this a reasonable option. Rothenberger Superfile 2

All excellent options. Down to taste, really, and how the tool moulds to your hand . Yes, 180mm for those sizes.

    Plumbing Grips

...of grips. I only work on residential systems - mainly 15mm and 22mm fittings. I already own a bahco adjustable spanner. I've had bahco, rothenberger and Knipex suggested to me. Can I please get your view on what you guys use on a daily basis and also is the 180mm the ideal size for me...

    Frozen waste pipe from macerator?

Frozen again this morning. Seems to be okay until the outside temp reaches -7°C. Tried using my Rothenberger torch to warm the pipes up but the gas froze in the burner head! I’ll just have to pïss upstairs until it thaws out.

To swage or use a straight coupler (15mm copper rad pipes)

I have a set of long-handled Rothenberger fan orifice/pipe stretchers which go 12 up to 28mm iirc. If your pipe is hard, it splits. From plumbing up the first block of flats I had donkeys years ago, on, I have a reasonable proficiency with soldering pipes. But I haven't done it for a while so...

    Tap re-seater tool thread type

I was going to use my recently acquired Rothenberger tap re-seater (3/8", 1/2" and 3/4") to clean the mixer tap seats in a 40 year old house but the tool would not screw in to the tap base. Do older taps use a different thread on the tap valve collars?

    Blocked toilet/ drain problem.

Visitors might not be as careful/sensible as you ;) I'd get the pan out first, and try whatever kit you have again. You said originally "We have rods with a plunger on the end" so what exactly do you have? The Rothy is an expensive bit of kit so won't be cheap to hire, and it's not as if you...

Is that this one? I don't mind paying a bit more for something that will last and do a good job.
