    French Door measurement

Sure but if the builder gets it a bit off then you'll be the one left carrying the can. Can you rely on the builder to build it completely accurately?

    French Door measurement

Well if you order windows without the finished sizes then you have to hope the builder gets it spot on so you're increasing the risk of things going wrong.

    French Door measurement

I would expect to employ a builder to remove the windows and create the new openings and then temporarily board up. Then get the french doors ordered to fit the actual finished opening sizes.

    Confused with Aqua Panel

Is the tape really that expensive? Why would you not use the tape/system that's designed for the job? As an aside I don't understand the cutting the shower panels bit, why would it be painful? Just understand how to cut it properly and then cut it properly.

Do I need the architect to submit to planning?

I'm not quite sure about that, if you employ a crappy designer then for sure you have nothing to lose, if you employ a good one though then their input can be invaluable and could save you ££££s far outweighing their outlay.

Do I need the architect to submit to planning?

Cutting hole in back of wardrobe for plug socket

Think I'd be wary of using a Stanley knife, those backs of wardrobes have a habit of popping out if you apply much pressure on them. How will you know where the plug socket is?

Advice on small under stairs toilet in Scotland

Space wise I think it'll work just fine, we had pretty much an identical downstairs bog in our last house and it worked just fine, any space disadvantages are outweighed by the addition of a downstairs bog. If going for a macerator consider a commercial grade albeit much more expensive they will...
