can i ask op who fitted this boiler?? ie was he gas safe reg ? i read on another forum you bought the boiler second hand! is this true? if so was it a poor purchase considering how much its now costing you ?

they will know when it was manufactured from the "fd" no in the serial no. they also know that most are fitted within 3 months of manufacture. the boiler was probably registered with them by the installer so, either way they will know what year it was fitted. as dan said you will have to...

absolutely quality boiler, don t dream of getting rid....i fitted loads and still maintain many...the only probs i get really are the low water press switch!

why on earth did you buy a pcb when you obviously don t know boilers?? is it the 28i or 28i jnr ?

i've fitted 6 cdi's in the last few weeks, last week was a 40cdi conventional with an unvented cylinder. they were all the usual models, however, in p/centre they said they had the "new" cdi. it is probably minor adjustments to the model. i was told they are getting a new pcb on them...

dan, the rep probably means the 60kw worcester monster, you can fit it / work on it as its less than 70kw. youll need a u16 mtr though ! it s a nice boiler made by buderus and re badged as WB. i fitted two so far this yr, no probs, custard very happy

its not an "issue" pal, its designed into combis to turn the light off in areas such as bedrooms. very easy to toggle it off and on. op, your pcb is faulty. suggest you keep wb number handy until your board goes! it may last years. it may not.

so tony you charge about £30 for a fix. so thats travelling to look at boiler and diagnose. then going off to source the heat exchanger, return and then fit. so thats at least half a day for £30. so you normally charge £60 a day?? wow, just wow, are you one of these rgi's that charge £20...

the knob / spindle is pence to buy but you'd need to access the pcb to remove the snapped bit from the pcb. you ll get one from partscentre and its the same knob as the worcester cdi one

unfortuneately yes the spindle is prob snapped and thus unable to reset. am afraid i cant help anymore because i wouldn t advise removing casing where you have live electrics
