As Madrab said, Milliput works very well for minor chips. Once set finish off with wet and dry sand paper. Sounds like a lot of hard work for cracks though.

I had similar issue after redoing my ch 4 years ago. I added AF10 biocide to header tank after cleaning it out and no problems since.

The gas valve is faulty, a replacement one to be fitted soon.

Finally found the manual. Press the reset button for 10 seconds and boiler tries to cycle again but locks out. Flow chart points towards ignition lockout (gas flow, sensors or PCB fault). Already contacted local GS engineer. Thanks for ^ input.
