    Choice of floorboards

because they dont have a grain to cup along as the fibres are now short and in every direction at once cancelling each other out think off a handful off drinking straws remember each ring is a different years growth and pressures can build up and cause movement around the radius off the grain...

    Choice of floorboards

yes a good compromise as any visible cupping or shrinking will be around half that off 9" as effects are multiplied with small size gains for example iff you take a cupped 9" board and the middle is raised by say 7mm iff you rip it in half the raise will be perhaps 1 to 1.5mm for each half...

    Choice of floorboards

i have used 100s off metres off 9"in furniture making for tops and in the end i would either rip it down the middle or glue sub 7" planks together alternate cup up and cup down as call back for split tops exceed the theoretical time saved from fewer glue joints and assembly time;)

    Choice of floorboards

most 220mm will tend to be through and through cut timber and include the tree heart or close too and this is the area most likely to cup and if it cant cup the grain can open up engineered wood is far more stable as its more than one layer and evens out the stresses

Energy v cost, do people really not know the difference?

perhaps it only applies to quite dry items like bacon and anything sugar filled ??

    Choice of floorboards

its your choice but would think cupping splits and shrinkage may be a problem you will probably need 3 fixings but i dont know as its not a normal size i would use for flooring

    Choice of floorboards

what size where your last lot off boards ??? you may be fine and any shrinkage may be within exceptable levels as a 1-1.5mm gap can fill with wax but a larger say 2-3mm gap may not

    Choice of floorboards

if you go for 9" be prepared for 2-3mm possibly bigger gaps that will appear regardless off how tight you fit them with a clamp https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=floor+board+clamp&atb=v227-1&ia=web

Reform party ditch all the tax cuts they promised

reform will fade into the past eventually, long before the next general election at present labour and the conservatives are seen by some as lying and cant be trusted most people dont like so much negativity in politics any body with children and most hard working people are on the benefits...

    Choice of floorboards

another point to note if its an old property then the new electric and plumbing installed perhaps 10- 30 years ago will be along a plank centre so any change should be planned thoroughly to avoid the problem off 2 edges in the cutout without sufficient support

    Choice of floorboards

you are all ready quite a bit into cup and split territory with 9" boards in general you are better with ex 6/7 or 8" as shrinkage will become a greater problem as you cant get boards tight enough to stop gaps and in general round here the cost per extra inch in width doubles between 8 and 9...

Energy v cost, do people really not know the difference?

its worth pointing out only new "dumb" items will revert to 0.5w when off anything with internet or ariel connectivity can use up to perhaps 10w possibly more when recording content or looking for content or connectivity even when no known demands or conexion or recording is required this can...

Workmen removed holding cement for swing?

no expert at all but iff i tackled this it would be a large X i would cut with 4 flaps ---and not cut a section out i assume for a patch you will line the edge with a material of great strength but minimum bulk to not raise the edge plus match up the lay off the fibres

    Choice of floorboards

yes 2 are fine take note off services as you go screws normally 2.5 times the board thickness so 55-60mm as an aside 119 txg will be around 111mm coverage as it includes the Tongue

Energy v cost, do people really not know the difference?

sugars and fats attracts energy far more than water in a microwave tried an experiment to boil a cup off water plastic kettle 2200w and 900w micro boil time about 30% longer but as the micro was about 1700w input kettle gets it but only iff it can boil only a single cup

Has anyone managed to make any sense of Patchs?

i remember years ago tony blair was horrified that you could not book a same day appointment easily and all would change -----it did for a bit and you could get an appointment to be seen the same day but as the system couldn't cope so further steps added meant yes you would get an appointment...

stories like this have no real value other than the old saying off "don't put all your eggs in one basket " or "dont invest what you cant afford too loose" i wont include "a fool and his money are soon parted" as some will gain as its a bit better than a pyramid scheme its all about maximum...

general comments live tv comes off the aerial anything else comes off the internet so perhaps try live tv before a retune because when you retune you automatically get live tv now i might be miles out but iff live tv still works its not an aerial problem
