Thats what I thought TBH. The new cap that was sent with the motor will only fit it the separate housing due to it being bigger than the original. I will try the install with the original cap to see if that is still in check. I'll report back. Thanks for the help.

Hi guys, I've got a new motor and cap could some kind soul explain how to wire this as the wire colours differ. The original cap was housed in with the motor but kingspan tell me that it should be within this separate unit... Many thanks.

Yeah, I think I've succumb to that. Just annoying that it only lasted for just over 12m. I cant afford to replace right away am I likely to cause any damage without the discs turning? Thanks all.

Is there an earth thest that I can carry out from the house with the motor pulled from the unit or would I need to reinstate the motor first?

Okay for the "Test between U1 and U2 Reverse probes and recheck....." - I receive a '1' for "Repeat with U1 and Z2". - I receive moving digits counting to zero

I've just tested both of the caps via that meter setting Bernard and received no reading from either?

This is how I tested in the JB:

it reads 0 when together and 1 when apart.

I've just wired the motor to a plug and it didn't work. I then decided to test the caps resistance via the meter and on each received a '1' value. Does this indicate that the caps have blown?

Thanks Terry will do. Do you happen to know the difference between a 2 and a 3uf cap. The one in my unit was a 2uf but on kingspans site they supply with a 3uf? Is this likely to have contributed to the failure?
