    Britony Cobi 80 problem

He doesn't tell us which model, but the normal combis don't have any preheat. However the SE version has an integral frost stat so it could possibly be that, although I would suspect a faulty flow switch on the older version.

how do i know which is which?

TRVs should operate reasonably accurately over the full range of flow and return temperatures (not just 80°C), but the UK practice of mounting them vertically so that the sensing head is immediately above the valve body and pipework (as opposed to normal European practice of having the head...

    1 inch rad valve?

Doitall, we've all double posted, but not one and a half hours apart!

its the customers who should be on the telly as well

It all boils down to whether we want to be seen as Professionals (on a par with say surveyors) or opportunistic chancers like zimmers. True professionals will operate according to ethical standards. That certainly doesn't mean being cheap, or allowing yourself to be taken advantage of, but...

Why didn't you do a mains flush?

Entirely agree. It would have been a better story if the customer had got his revenge after all.

    Hometronic System ?

I think simond does. There was a recent thread. Do a search.

how do i know which is which?

Why should it be better to fit TRVs on the flow? I would have thought that if anything the return would be better because there would be less heat from the valve body affecting the sensor head.

how do i know which is which?

Why should it make any difference which is flow and which return? As for pipe size, that depends on the size of the rads and the length of the run, but 10mm may be adequate for both.

How can you increase the Water Pressure ?

Interesting that the two Yanks who posted took the question very seriously and gave straight answers while the Brits make fun of the vagueness of the question.

    pressure low on boiler

That doesn't make a lot of sense, but it sounds like the valves at either end if the filling loop are operated by the screwdriver slots. this is explained in the FAQs. One valve will have two screwdriver slots but only one of them opens and closes it. The other one is a drain point. The valve at...

Is that supposed to be an answer to my question?

ch preasure going up to and over 3 bar.

It's been answered. I was directing him straight to that answer. What's wrong with that?

    Pipe size

The imperial version of 28mm was 1". Adaptors should be available, but by the mid 70s (no apostrophe!) metric had been introduced.

ch preasure going up to and over 3 bar.

It's dealt with in the FAQs section.

    1 inch rad valve?

I think the radiator tails are still attached to the rad and the OP thinks they are part of the rad. The so-called 1" thread is the ¾" thread of the union nut. Bpowell, the chrome piece sticking out of the bottom of the rad is part of the rad valve. You have to unscrew it. If it doesn't have...

    Vaillant TURBOmax leaking water

So disconnect the filling loop. I think you'll find it's not turned off properly. You've got a leaky PRV by the sound of it.

    Vaillant TURBOmax leaking water

If you've got a leak from the heating system the pressure should be dropping gradually. If it isn't you may have the filling loop open. Check that it's fully shut by disconnecting the flexi hose bit. The leak in the boiler might be from the "domestic" water side, i.e. mains pressure. This...
