Oak beam - finishing and fitting

Hi, Drying method not specified, but I think it's air dried. He did mention the odd wood louse might appear  Will try rot hardener on another bit of firewood oak and see what happens to the bark. It won't ever need to hold much weight, just my wallet and specs. I'm Scottish so...

Need to insulate wall. Chalet house please help check

None other than you need to ventilate the loft. The glass wool stuffed between the rafter should really be removed. It will cause condensation to be trapped at the rafters and is an ideal situation for rot. The hardboard won't do much except make it look nice. It's all about U values and...

Need to insulate wall. Chalet house please help check

Hi, I priced it up not a million miles from you and they want 2.5k inc vat to do a full fit and line the chimney. I guess you would get similar numbers. You still need to buy a stove on top of that. Auldton stoves is in North Ayrshire (Dunlop) and the guy there is very nice. I bought a...

    LG Dishwasher - Sandy Residue

Hi, I had a similar problem and stopped using salt and dishwasher tablets. I live in a soft water area and didn't need the salt or half the other things they add to the tablets. I just used the powder (can't rem brand) that morrisons sells. Came in a yellow tub I think. After cleaning...
