    Loft socket`s

Your diagram suggests that A is presently on a ring. You know this for sure, the second set of wires is not another spur to somewhere? Assuming A really is on the ring, then the ring is already in your attick and the hardest part may be done already. disconnect one set of cables from A and...

Indicators: Who would be to blame?

Crafty, probably because they would be in danger of failing their test if they followed your ADIs advice? Interestingly there are other points where an advanced instructor may teach you something which a standard instructor would tell you not to do.

A few years ago was offered a house but it had to be setttled straight away. Agent recommended a solicitor for speed. Solicitor said yes, everything including standard searches could be done within two weeks.

Teenage mums: are schools to blame?

Well they did claim that the french are better at this. That they indulge in less binge drinking on account of being introduced to drink domestically at an early age. The analogy would seem to be the same with sex and drugs. The problem we have is the two different viewpoints between those who...

wiring up 2 lights and 2 switches??

The tricky bit is that a cable goes off to a switch. Usually power is taken to the switch on the red, but comes back to go to the lamp on the black. So this black is really a switched live and must not be mixed up with neutrals. Good plan to mark the return blacks with red tape or sleeving...

    Energy Efficient Lighting

Nice conventional strip light. Easier if you are building a house, then you can stick it in the garage if you hate them. But I reckon they can not be beaten for kitchens and the like. You can get smaller fluorescents which take circular ring bulbs about 2 ft diameter, or other push in bulbs...

    Energy Efficient Lighting

So which part is it of building regs which relates to energy efficiency? Yes, they do apply. It is probably new builds and is pretty modest, about one fluorescent per house I think.

    Help please, electrical safety certificate

I would agree, it is pretty daft for people to argue they can not sensibly test an installation. Happens all the time when you ask an electrician for his opinion on your wiring. Seems to have more to do with maintaining a closed shop....

    Help please, electrical safety certificate

So far ther are lots of rumours about what insurers might do (some put about by the government), but few if any actual examples.
