    Velux at front

Hmmmm... seems to be at odds with itself. Velux website and various online resources say pp isn't required........ but I'm guessing that applies to existing roofs. I suppose I could get the builder to trim the openings ready for the windows and then tile the roof and get it signed off. Once...

    Velux at front

Even if its going into a new roof on a new extension? Its not on the plans, so my builder thinks you can only have them at the back if its not on the plans.

Do you need PP to have a velux installed on roof on the front elevation?

    Gapotape

Yeah, I'm sure it does. But, I hate installing it over head and ****ting it into the aperture. I'm thinking more about making the installation easier with less dust...... I appreciate it probably won't save time, but its my own house and ill be doing it on my own.

    Gapotape

Anyone used Gapotape when fitting PIR into ceiling? It looks good, but eye wateringly expensive at 95 quid for 50 meters. But..... it got me thinking. Why couldn't you just use 8mm thick 150m wide UFH perimeter foam..... its about 20 quid for 50 meters and a layer of foil tape over it. Works...

    Insulating Vaulted Ceiling

Wonder if I'll need to ventilate the roof above the insulation from the eaves/soffits up to the ridge.... or is the use of breathable membrane sufficient. Also, how do you install plasterboard over VCL without piercing it? I presume you just screw through it.

    Insulating Vaulted Ceiling

Oh yeah, you're correct. So..... the 100mm celotex would go at the ceiling, then 50mm underneath. Like this......

    Insulating Vaulted Ceiling

I'm using scissor trusses to create a vaulted ceiling in a new bedroom im building above garage. The drawings detail 150mm celotex between 1st floor joists and 50mm under the joists. This seperates the garage from bedroom. The original plans were for a standard ceiling, but I've managed to...

    Monopitch roof detail

In the attached pic..... the monopitch roof spans a large opening into an open fronted porch. What would typically span that opening behind the fascia board? I'm building virtually the same thing, but in having it enclosed on the front with a composite door and side panel. What is holding...

    Join or overlap cavity closers

I have a window that is 2.6 meters wide. The cavity closers i have are only 2.4 meters. Do they need to be joined, overlapped or just butted together to get 2.6 meters.

Using batts around reveals when the rest is PIR

I am closing the cavities on a side extension im having built. Standard cavity wall construction with 100mm cavity with 50mm PIR and dense concrete blocks. I've noticed that around some of the reveals the insulation is missing. Not an ideal situation and I cant just slip in PIR boards due to...
