    Rubber Roof - problem

May I suggest you have a look at this UToob episode - in particular from 6 minutes in. The way he does the corners is one way (it's not the way I've seen them done but it works). If you look around you will find a posting about how external flashing works and secured. I hope that explains why...

    Rubber Roof - problem

I can only agree. The trims need to come off and you need to see just how short of covering the timber the EDPM is. Just fixing back the existing edge under the gutter trim will only delay solving the problem and in the end may cost you a lot more. It looks to me that the EDPM was laid by a...

    Rubber Roof - problem

You certainly need a patch on the corner to stop any water seeping under the EDPM in that area. You may beed to extend the patch depending on how far along the roofline the EDPM is trimmed close to the roof. One of your pictures seems to indicate the EDPM comes down about half way behind the...

    Rubber Roof - problem

Has the EDPM been glued down? I hope so. I think you need a corner patch to ensure continuity of the EDPM on this questionable corner. You will need the 'Primer' to bond it to the EDPM. I accept it does require the removal of the trims to apply and the Kerb Corner to finish the edges.

    Rubber Roof - problem

The EDPM on the roof is expected to go to the bottom as the trim piece is designed hold the EDPM in place. Water will percolate between the EDPM and the Trim so the EDPM should have been trimmed off at the bottom of the R/H trim after the trim is fixed in place- especially as that is the...

    Rubber Roof - problem

How recently was this fitted? Does the EDPM sheet finish at the bottom edge of the gutter trim (That's the edge fixing on the R/H side of your images) anywhere along that side or not. As cdbe comments certainly at the corner it has been cut short - the corner excess should have been folded with...

    Water meter leaking

I had that some years ago after they changed the water meter for a new one. The plastic meter just screws into a plastic base so I think they cracked the base. The meter reader emptied the meter hole and it filled ups again within a week, reported it to be told it's not a problem and probably...

Solid floor insulation above or below slab

In the end with 'Wet' UFH the tiles will have to be on a solid surface - i.e. a 'slab' that will, at a minimum, I'd say 50mm thick. With you having already removed the existing concrete floor I wonder how thick you are planning the replacement slab to be. You should be planning to have a...

Solid floor insulation above or below slab

The insulation needs to be underneath the slab. The UFH will heat the slab and that will then become a 'Thermal Store' and behave similar to the way a night storage heater. It will take a time to warm up but also take time to cool down. If you can insulate the sides of the slab against the...

    Car Lights - dim

I have measured the 'cold' side of the bulb connections for resistance - on the 200Ω range - Zero resistance from Bulb to battery.

    Parapet wall ingress from neighbour

I'm not a roofer by any means but have have done roof repairs and reroofed a couple of extensions. So what do I see from your 'photos, Neighbours side :- On the pitched roof the Lead work is wrong; there should be 'Soakers' on each course of tiles Lead should not be over tiles. The roofer has...

Wiring plug socket, 'to functional earth'

Many computer rooms, Radio Test rooms and equipment on constantly powered UPS's require the equipment earth to be 'isolated' from the mains earth to reduce or even eliminate electrical noise. When I worked in Radio Comm's the company test and approvals lab the Radio Frequency chambers (a metal...

    BBC showing pro Conservative bias

Now I'd say the Licence fee is a subscription service but with another name (from a different time). Just how much do you pay for the 'Free to Air' channels (those that solely supported by advertising) via what you buy that is advertised? If you are a 'Sky' (or Pluto or Paramount) subscriber...

    Hot water cylinder outdoors

Good grief... If that had been suggested to me the wife would be preparing to walk out. I've moved the hot water tank from where it was in the house to spare area on the landing and made that into an airing cupboard. SWMBO loves it.

Need to remove lock cylinder and I can't find the retaining screw. There is an odd, 6 pointed star shaped hole

That (Torx) screw is the barrel retaining screw. Removing it frees the barrel, you then have to put the key in the barrel and turn it slightly one way or other before you can pull the barrel out. When you get a new barrel to put in you should get an 'anti-theft' one and then insert it the right...

Need to remove lock cylinder and I can't find the retaining screw. There is an odd, 6 pointed star shaped hole

Are you trying to change the 'EuroLock' barrel? Looks to me that the barrel is retained by a Torx screw - the lower one is the security version.

5.3 Billion how many of you are guilty

I had the Nokia 6310a for 21 years (3 new batteries in that time) before I replaced it last November - still not sure I've done the right thing. Bought an iPhone 14 to replace it, no replaceable battery, larger, difficult to know which pocket to put it in - on the whole I regret the change but...
