    Suspended floor insulation

Needed a sanity check, thank you. Rereading the specs, while the foam has that value, the board is a u value of 2.62. Kinda useless then. Nuts. Looks like the floor is coming up

    Suspended floor insulation

Sorry for flogging a dead horse, however... I have a suspended wood ground floor and will shortly have parquet laid on ply, around 50m2 Underfloor is 4x2 with about 4 inch to the subfloor, so could fit a max of 4inch insulation. I had the idea to insulate and discussed it here after reading...

    Floor insulation - article

Paging @JobAndKnock What are your thoughts on the best way to prevent drafts on the perimeter of a suspended floor, that will be overboarded in ply and parquet laid on top? Skirts and architraves are being replaced so full access is avail. There is a definite draft issue now. I've seen you...

    Floor insulation - article

Just noodling around having a read. This place https://www.permagard.co.uk/advice/installing-vcl-vapour-control-layer says So to stop warm moist house air condensing. Makes sense. Now thinking about my floor - ply and parquet glued and screwed. Only risk will be around the edges.

I was looking at glasswool (non hygroscopic). Rockwool is hygroscopic, as its cheaper. Wonder what benefit the building paper provides?

10 or 12mm PIR insulation board

3 device in parallel on one cable

Is it then DIY, or does it need some form of sign-off from a competent person? Not saying your not competent, however isn't this a different kettle of fish altogether? Workplace safety, water, Chinese kit lashup... Maybe use something with batteries?

Separation distance for new dwelling on corner plot

I'm no professional, however is this an idea? As planners can be "inconsistent", and local policy does change, do you have the funds / capacity to do the planning for the corner plot now, before any PD activity on the main plot?

Insulating central heating pipes - no space for tubes

Having new floor laid on ground floor and taking the opportunity to install insulation. Just loft rolls stuffed between the joists. I can't use the foam pipe tubes on majority of the central heating as the pipes are too close together. Ffs. I guess I could cut the tubes in half and tape it...

    Subfloor Sawdust pile

Builders waste. Woodworm waste / frass is like dust, plus you'd see exit holes in the joists. Are the joists / floorboards original? That green looks like pressure treatment? My 20's floors and joists look darker and nore age. The copper piping looks newer.Guessing there's been a rewire at...

    Damp under my floor!

Nuke the site from orbit, its the only way to be sure. Vents on opposing walls. Needs a breeze down there. Should the plastic go? What's the ground water level like? Maybe sump and pump if high.

    Bottom of door is rubbing

Paging @Keitai . Requesting photos of the finished job and an honest review of how it went. This is obviously some new use of the word "fortunate" I am unaware of. Customer did lose. They paid for his services and materials. He is marketing himself and taking money as a "professional". I do...

Column radiators - how cheap is too cheap

The NRG are £261 for a 3 column rad. Same specs otherwise in terms of size, materials etc. NRG look like a reseller. This puts it in the same group as the Plumbworld and Huiyang. Not that this is a criticism of NRG, just flummoxed as it's another choice. Do I save a load of money and go with a...
