    Over-Painting steel tubing

Removing all the paint is not an option, far too much work to do that.

    Over-Painting steel tubing

I don’t think it’s zinc coated, due to rust in places. It is outdoors and it is black, appreciate your comment, but don’t want to change the colour. Will ‘Ferrous preservative primer’ work on top of paint. ? I’d agree that SS in 316 grade be much better, but could not find one in SS. Agree...

    Over-Painting steel tubing

I have a an adjustable steel hand rail …. This is 2” steel tubes which have a Matt black finish ….I think it’s paint, as no flaking which happens with powder coat. Photo of new item attached. It was supposed to be for outside use for Hot Tubs …. In less than 9 months it’s rusting...

    Enclosure recommendation .

exactly why I trying to choose the right box to use. Pregnant plug type USB & similar PSUs are in effect in sealed boxes, they rely on the surface of the plastic itself dissipating the heat. Alternative thought would be a small 2 way breaker box ... something like an unpopulated one of these...

    Enclosure recommendation .

normally I'd agree .. but IP5 for example allows for limited ingress. Something as good as consumer unit ... with from flap close dust does not get into any great degree. Just concerned about putting a switch mode psu in a sealed box, maybe some is aware of some with vents

    Enclosure recommendation .

Small project undeway. Need a surface mount plastic box, to mount a couple of electrical modules. Not huge …. Not much bigger than a 2 gang box or cooker switch. Not much in the way of heat output, but some ventilation would make sense. Would like the enclosure to be dust proof but no need for...

    Remote Relay

OK thanks. Back to original Q on a small 12V psu. I have some hub & router adapters so have those as an option, just larger and more power output than needed. DC to DC be easy with a tiny buck converter Guess I could go with one of these - seems overkill. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165553353780

    Remote Relay

I have a woodwork dust extract system. It is triggered by a low voltage sense wire circuit Thinking be much easier instead of having cord pull swiches on the sense wire to put in a remote controlled relay ... thinking of using one of these -...

    PME changes

The earth rod was installed on bare land … no risk of hitting services. Impedance was tested by the electrician before the connection was made. The install was completed & tested. So all the decisions regarding where & if an earth rod can be installed have been made. The question I was looking...

    PME changes

Information question. My house was on a local earth rid as on temporary 30A supply. Had it changed to permanent supply and PME. From the house, I have an RCD type A protected armoured cable feeding an outbuilding, and this was changed so the house earth is exported to that building (was...

Not sure what you mean by a ‘20 mm tho box’. Do you have a link for one ? sort of assuming you might mean one of these …. Ideal need 20mm female threaded ….. otherwise I guess I’d need to solvent weld on sone cable glands...

    LED Floodlight Q

Thanx … but that does not meet need of having to change the floods, corroding and no longer waterproof.

    LED Floodlight Q

I have a number of Halogen outside floodlights, these are die cast bodies … bought as good quality at the time. They have suffered in salt air environment so need to change them, so will obviously move to LED now. The existing lights had 20mm female thread so I connected up with 20mm nylon...

Thanks to all for helping clarify my understanding. Wylex 63A 30mA type A installed this morning, replacing the type AC Hot Tub feed so might as well be as safe as possible.
