Excessive Gas Consumption - Not sure what to try next!

I was curious so just done some digging... it seems that the EU version has support for only one heating circuit and no support for DHW i.e. is not able to read the NTC connected to a VR65, so Tado market it saying it's only compatible with Combi's not for tanks. It also seems to struggle with...

Excessive Gas Consumption - Not sure what to try next!

Vaillant ecoFIT Pure 430 modulates down to 7.4kW - which means if you only had the study radiator on, it would likely short cycle a lot... As another reference, I have a 4-bed detached, built around 1986 with a Vailant ecoTEC Plus 418 boiler and Vailant ebus controls (inc weather compensation)...

Nest Thermostat E replacing Drayton Mistat

You can also test the Nest using a multimeter without it being connected to your boiler. Set MM to test continuity, then put the prongs between C & NO on the Nest - When the app / room stat is calling for heat, you should see 0 on the multimeter and likely hear a constant beep. If the app/stat...

    Updating Controls

I’ve been using the Vaillant vSmart for the last few years, which is a rebranded Netatmo but fully integrated to the boiler to give modulation of flow temperatures and weather compensation (the two key things I would look for in any new device). Vaillant uses eBUS to communicate between...

    Updating Controls

To ensure it’s easy for anyone to work on in the future, it’s best to use standards… if you Google S-Plan wiring, when you’re tidying up the loft, (or adding room stat) I would rearrange the connections to match in the wiring center. As @Stuckinarut mentioned above, I would also look at more...

    Updating Controls

3 is HW on and 4 is CH on, take a look at the "Zone Valve System" wiring diagram here https://www.free-instruction-manuals.com/pdf/pa_458175.pdf and you will see how it's likely wired to the wiring center JB1 (likely in your loft?) and where to connect the room thermostat wiring. You could...

    Replacing Drayton digital RF1

Your existing Digistat SCR has two small screws at the bottom, with the power off, if you losen them (dont have to take them all the way out), the front will lift off from the bottom. The black bracket you see in the eBay listing, will already be on your wall, double check the wiring is the same...

Water pressure in kitchen decreases, and only 10-15 minutes of hot water in shower before going lukewarm

Yes, the boiler will heat the water as it drains and new, cold water enters the tank. If the gas is restricted, it cannot put enough heat in. Googling Mexico, it sounds like there are lots of water issues, as mentioned above, and after googling, I too suspect the water supply has a high degree...

Water pressure in kitchen decreases, and only 10-15 minutes of hot water in shower before going lukewarm

Some observations… - it looks like the boiler gas pipe is severely kinked at the top, which would restrict its ability to operate correctly / heat water. - it’s likely that after 15mins in the shower, you have used all the available hot water in the tank, the above restriction will likely slow...

Worcester Greenstar Boiler - Hot Shower Water Issue

Not sure if it would cause your symptoms, however as the fitter thinks the hot water is pumped, wondering if he’s fitted the correct model of shower as there is a version for Combi and another for pumped systems. Do you have the product number for the shower on packaging etc? The product...

Worcester Greenstar Boiler - Hot Shower Water Issue

I would not trust anything he says, clearly doesn’t understand what he’s doing as the hot from a Combi is also mains pressure.

Nest Thermostat E replacing Drayton Mistat

It looks like you have connected the wrong wires. The Drayton wiring diagram shows Grey (common) & Black (call) are connected together when the thermostat calls for heat - You have connected the Brown in (C)ommon instead of Grey.

    Replace tap cylinder

Using Google Image search, here’s a expanded view of the taps which may help you? https://www.bristan.com/product-files/539707/spares-drawing.pdf As mentioned above, there looks to be a grub screw under the handle.

What happens when you paste the wall with PTP lining paper?

Hi all, I’ve prepped a bedroom ready for lining and painting. Have some rolls of Erfurt 1400 Red label lining paper along with a bag of Solvite All Purpose adhesive, paper instructions say to paste the paper…. It’s been a while since I’ve done any wallpapering, so watched a few YouTube videos...

Vaillant boiler doesn't respond to thermostat

FWIW, I’ve just checked my vSmart app and the graph shows the temperature recorded for today and a couple of small bars at the bottom for boiler use. If you scroll left, when was the last time it was recording temps on the graph? Did anything change at that point? (I think all that data is...

Vaillant boiler doesn't respond to thermostat

I have vSmart but a different boiler, I may be able to help…. Some questions: Has it ever worked correctly? When vSmart is requesting CH to be on, does a radiator symbol show on the boiler display? Are any F.xxx or S.xxx codes displayed on the boiler? Do you have one or two motorised valves...

Vaillant VR65 / vSmart & zone valve on constantly

I originally had a VRT392 with the VR65, then a few years later swapped to the vSmart - I’ve attached a photo of the inside…. However, I have got a bit further with my diags and at the moment, seem to have fixed it. How? I removed the PCB in the attached and was prodding all around with my...

Vaillant VR65 / vSmart & zone valve on constantly

All connections in the VR65 are okay and no signs of any burnt out components in the PCB, however, as a test, I powered down everything, removed the eBUS connection to the VR65 e.g. completely removing any signals from the boiler or vSmart - powered back up and the CH valve opened, which unless...
