    Sanding new brake discs

I agree. I used to do a lot of track days and put significant effort into finding a disc/pad combination that wouldn't end up with really nasty judder from uneven pad deposition or the pad falling apart because it was overheated before it had gassed off properly. Proper performance pads have a...

    Sanding new brake discs

That's more of a performance or race pad requirement. Modern conventional brake pads don't need that. You just fit them and drive normally.

    Old stone walls

I suspect that it'll probably be fine. There should be enough friction between the rough stones and the mortar for it to grip, even if the pva prevents the lime bonding properly. Have you tried removing a section of your lime mortar to see how well its bonded? I think that will give you your...

    Cutout fuse size

Google AI tells me this is a wiped earth joint onto the lead sheath of the paper insulated lead covered cable, so maybe not as bad as i thought it potentially was.

Is it? I'm looking at it thinking its pretty modern! That being said, our previous house had the old wylex rewireable fuses....

The car will charge in 2hrs 12 mins on a 7kw home charger so potentially worth it.

    Cutout fuse size

Consumer unit photo below: Interestingly, it appears that someone has soldered the earth to the incoming supply. I assume that is not normal.

    Cutout fuse size

12.1kw useable apparently, hence the 6 hour charge time. Presumably, because it's a PHEV, the control never lets you fully deplete the battery so it never needs the full 15kwh replenishing.

    Cutout fuse size

Its range rover evoque with a 15kw battery. It takes 6 hours to charge off a 3 pin plug which is fine when we leave it on overnight, but less so if we want to charge it at other times. Good point about the charging rate. I have no idea how quickly it will charge off a bigger charger.

    Cutout fuse size

Yes, charging via a standard 3 pin plug and no electric shower. We have an electric oven and back up immersion heater but other than that, no significant electrical devices. If there's no cover to remove, i won't be pulling any non-isolated fuses!

    Cutout fuse size

Our house is the first house built on the road back in 1925 and the rest of the houses were built over the next 40 years. There's only one cable, not a return, so that and the fact that our house was the first one built is what makes me think its not looped in. Will post a picture of the...

    Cutout fuse size

We've just acquired a hybrid car and i'm interested in whether we can get an EV charger fitted to reduce the charging time. Our incoming supply isn't looped, we have 2 spare ways in our consumer unit and based on the markings on our cutout, i think we may have a 100amp fuse in the incoming...

How to attach new loft floor joists to existing wall plate/rafters

Just sister the joist where it sits on the wall plate if you're worried. You've removed bearing area by cutting the joist on an angle to fit under the roof, so double or triple up the width to compensate.

There should be a connector that slides into a gap under the rails that transmits power to the rails.
