Glass wind break (ontop of picket fence)

You mean 1m glass panels up off the floor above a picket fence, so say 2m overall? I doubt wood would be strong enough for that and you would have to build a steel structure to hold the glass from one edge with that kind of leverage.

Guess the connector! (Trying to identify a connector for single core cables)

Your best to cut out a section and terminate them into two boxes with a patch cable between them.

    15mm inline water filter

NPT has a different thread pitch to BSP so they are not compatible. Being plastic you could probably force it and get away with it but I'd not want that situation in my house with the potential to leak!

Broken borrowed tool - please help

It looks like the point bit from a kango with the end cut off to use with a hammer?

Is it worth even screwing these brackets in with these screws?

The screws you have look more like self tappers for sheet metal rather than wood? That said if its chipboard then I've found special chipboard screws are a lot better than normal wood ones.

    Not So Smart Meters!!

There is a distance limit yes, as the gas meter doesn't have a permanent electricity supply so only talks locally to the electricity meter at short range and much lower power, and the electricity meter can then send on the readings for both. This range limit has also caused my gas meter to not...

Maglock / closures on a UPVC door?! Need some guidance....

You can get UPVC lock mechanisms or perhaps even modify the one you already have so that when the door closes, you can only open it from the outside with a key, the handle doesn't actually turn the mechanism. That with a closer might be OK? Though I've found living with that type that it was...

    Crawl space under floor insulation

As mentioned you need the insulation to touch the floor boards, any air gap can allow condensation to form and get trapped.

Are these fake or has quality gone downhill?

I've had good results with genuine Bosch jigsaw blades. All mine are painted with Bosh logo and part numbers on them. Bought from a shop rather than online. What you have certainly looks like fake rubbish.

    Paper / fibre washers

Unlikely you will find the exact thickness and size off the shelf. Better to just not ruin the supplied ones!

Euro lock cylinder stuck in door and key stuck in lock

Has the whole lock moved towards the inside slightly? It looks like that in the photos. The key wont be able to turn the cam unless its right in the middle of the door, it might be stuck on the metal mechanism body. I'd try pushing the whole lock back inside the door (to the point where the...

    Making a weightlifting barbell

If its going to bend, the steel would bend straight away. A better test would be to make up a test unit with double the finished weights, and then try to lift/support from the middle only. When they are being moved about during use etc the load on the bar will be greater than when sitting still...

    Why are boilers pressurised?

I'm curious about why boilers are now designed to be pressurised at around 1 bar, and even feature protection to stop them being operated without pressure in the system. Is it just to raise the boiling point of the water, or is there another reason?

    Boiler filling loop not filling!

Do the pipes go straight through the wall? perhaps you can access them from the other side

    New boiler not big enough

If those rads dont get hot when everything else is shut then adding a bigger boiler wont fix anything. By shutting all the other rads off you've effectively created a 3 radiator system that any boiler would be big enough to run! It sounds like more an issue with the pipework, installation etc.

    Magnetic Filter Problem

It was probably coming out the overflow somewhere, so dropping the pressure same as leaving a tap running.

    Relay Problem

Its still possible that there is a relay controlling the valve pictured, if the actual controls that operate the valve are non standard then what then engineer said would be correct. A relay is this type of device, Many different types.
