    Yes, use a plastic EV socket. You don't want to be faffing with a lid, and trying to grasp the plug, if you don't have to. You would think outdoor ones would be more common

    Exactly this. Filament lamps put the light out sideways, and not up/down. Old LED lamps put the light out 240° Filaments put the light out 330° But select on a case by case basis. Sometimes you want the light focused up/down (but not in this case) There is also another variant, inbetween...

    I guess you aren’t into running cables up walls. Only trouble with the back box converters is the cable length behind and then maybe having to extend them. Just to be prepared.
